But, no, the standards are not as bad as you make it out to be and it will get better. The Empires and LISC's won't be around long.

They could have expanded if need be.
if you miss out on one player in the Buffalo area, so what. There has to be some level of practicality to it.
I dont think the USSF did any real scouting

There is no money to be made in finding and developing soccer talent in the US. Period. Money is made in the current system and that is why we have it.

Word of great players gets around I know of a player from the Albany area who is carrying her HS team to championship games as a 7th grader, but she won’t leave her home club. Who is going to notice her? Where is the scout calling her into camp? Stop running these nonsense league and tournament games and scout the players. Once you find them, train them the right way. US Soccer has made it clear that they don’t want to find the best players because it doesn’t look good for them to have girls teams that play better than boys teams. While I’m all for equal pay, the lawsuit screwed women’s soccer

in the right system, the market will tell her how good she is. ie a club would pick up the cost. if no one is willing to do that then you have your answer.
all of this BS goes away when those who benefit have to put their money where their mouth is.
If the USSF had to PAY for a players training, i wonder how many teams they would have.
this is the huge hole in their set up. The WNT is essentially a club, so they should be paying for all the youth players they think can make that club. period. they should be selecting them, they should be watching their development closely and they should be telling them which Club in their area fits them best. If you dont keep improving, they should drop you.
Simple.
now you have aligned the beneficiary with the product. Will never happen though

Sure you want to capture as much talent as you can, but not at the expense of allowing in so many poor quality clubs and players who aren't up to snuff for a "top" league. USSF wants everyone under one umbrella. But in reality if they'd made GDA half the size to start (they could always expand later) and continue to shop ECNL players outside of metro areas where there wasn't a strong GDA presence none of this would have happened. But they want's it all.
