Depends. If you're getting a scholarship to play then you have to play and hope you get a waiver (both the clubs and USSF have to approve it). If you're not getting $ and can't get a waiver you are SOL. Some schools require you to play a sport at least 2 seasons if not all 3. A soccer player could, in theory, do cross country or another non soccer sport at school and still be for USSF rules. Sounds like your daughter's teammate found a good way to still be involved with her school team without playing.

Last years NYCFC u19 team was pretty good, and as a members of one of the younger teams, we were all surprised, and honestly disappointed that our oldest team had bagged on the playoffs. Some of the better players had commitments to their schools to come-in early, but that is just 1-2 of them, the core could of gone. At this age group is everyman for himself, as everyone has their own singular agenda.

As you will find out, many kids lose interest in it. There is not much that you can do to force a parent to pay for something their kid does not want to do. This is the other end of P2P. Families can pick and choose what they want to do.

that team was light in numbers thru some unfortunate injuries and early defections (not sure what part of no HS some did not understand) They struggled with numbers all year. Their best player was unavailable and the getting a team together was going to be a challenge so they didnt go.

No clue why you would be disappointed.

Having finals for Seniors is useless. Especially at the time of year they have them. Remember
NY graduations are late June during the playoffs and finals, Asking a senior to miss her HS graduation is ridiculous. It is also crazy to ask players to not take their Regents exams.

US Soccer does not care about East Coast Girls

Believe in this. That Club (along with other clubs)helped develop a group of players with different talents and goals and most of them ended up where they wanted to be. The fact that they lost games, or did/did not play nationals, had a gap between top and bottom of roster, played GDA and or ECNL prior along with all the other stuff thats talked about here did not stop that happening.

There is no formula for this. Some of the kids you would have bet your house on at u15 are non longer playing. Some you did not bet on are. Some have lived up to the hype and some have not. Its the same everywhere.

point is that coaching staff are more than capable of getting you where you want to go no matter what league or club they are affiliated with.
