At the top end in other countries, its all merit/potential based. They are going to kick our butts soon. They already are at youth level
Our system serves those that finance it. That is the way of the world

Most of your kids cannot play a 90 minute game without running out of gas (which is another reason most of you really b#$%h about substitutes. If you had a quality player, no matter the politics - your kid would get significant playing time. If your kid doesn't play a full game - guess what? Your kid isn't cutting it.) Back to my point, however, your kids do not get in the gym, follow a healthy nutrition plan, work on their stamina through cardio. Your kids aren't going out to the fields taking shots on the net, getting to practice early to condition before the practice starts. They don't listen to their teammate other than their social media interactions and the other half don't know the difference between being bossy and being a team leader.

All of this starts with the fact that they are a reflection of you and your work ethic and parenting. You want things to change? You want your child to be successful? DO BETTER YOURSELVES! Show them what a true work ethic is and how successful people never settle. How learning from a loss makes them better all around. Most of you will miss the point of this and others will give some ridiculous commentary which they feel brings levity to their lack of knowledge. YOUR KIDS ARE PRIVELEDGED. LET THEM WORK FOR THEIR MERITS FOR ONCE.

I tend to agree with that. Looking over who gets the minutes and who doesn't, the "doesn't" category probably shouldn't be there anyway. They have improved the least, miss the most, and potential has fallen off.

No need to carry 18 players on gameday when 3 of them shouldn't even be there.

If that is how you feel, and believe me, I don’t disagree, are the starters parents willing to pay a higher tuition? You can not expect your clubs to finance teams of less than 18 players. Their costs are built on 18 man rosters being filled

Our roster is based on 16-paying players. The PT players get a lower rate, can't play more than (4?) games, and really only practice.

Or in some cases they aren’t politically connected. All this may be true but if a club takes money from a player they should be playing them. If the player isn’t good enough to play then don’t take that player.

I've seen that at lower levels, but not at GDA/ECNL level.

Gda can be about talent or about charging thousands per player and having them travel all over the place. Candy really be about both. Sorry.

What about at GK position? Every team needs a back up in case the starting keeper gets hurt but most back ups won’t join a team unless they are guaranteed at least 50% playing time. We lose games all the time because the back up keeper. Yes, the rest of the team should’ve kept the ball from going anywhere near the net when the back up keep is in but it’s demoralizing. I feel for the back up keeper as well.

That describes us. Hate to say it because she's a good kid, but results would be different if she wasn't there. She works hard and is always at training, so really that's what it's about. She is improving. So, we are going to say "results don't matter", then this applies here.

I've always been advocate for a player who takes a little GK training and can put the gloves on in an emergency.

get a grip. if you are measuring your experience on wins and losses, then you are not doing it right.
