It is very clear the path that GDA is on. I don't even think parents of players who have been called into Training centers can say the league is the best for development anymore. US Soccer bit off more than they could chew, and just didn't take into account that if they weren't financing the league, the clubs would have the say on how things ended up.

Where would these 20 teams be? How would they schedule games without even more terrible travel schedules?

          1) Their product is too similar to the well established ECNL, and actually has the negative of not being able to offer HS soccer play.

          2) GDA is still very much pay-to-play, more so than BDA which has MLS free academies on offer to top players. I believe that LA Galaxy is the only club that is free to play for girls.

          3) GDA is going to have a hard time justifying selecting YNT players from the GDA only, when there truly are quality players playing in other leagues (ie. ECNL). And if there are players being selected from other leagues, then why would a player give up HS knowing that they still could get selected for YNT playing outside GDA?

          4) Many MLS BDAs are signing players to home grown pro contracts, and the players are opting to skip college. There is no real viable pro path for women (Mallory Pugh and Lindsay Horan aside) - the money is just not there at the moment. For 99% of the girls playing high level soccer today, college scholarships are the end game.

          Suggestions:

          1) Shut down GDA.
          2) Invest the money by running month long training camps in the month of July - set them up in 4/5 regions across the country. Scout the country and select the top players to attend and pay for everything. There should be no expense to the player.
          3) Bring the best soccer minds to run the camp.
          4) Select YNT players from these camps.
You forgot to add the substitution rule and does that develop players?

college money is a direct payoff

              1. it was not similar when original proposed, but parents are the paymasters and money makes it all work

              2. a club that invests in players does not get their rights so why would any NWSL Club bother when they have other pressing needs?

              3. this is a non point.you select the best players. the problem is we are not really developing them anywhere based on our methods

              4. ok, but i dont really see the point here. Pugh is a cautionary tale so far. She has failed to deliver on the promises. Hardly a ringing endorsement of skipping College from a soccer pov.

              a. Its not about the GDA, its about the priorities of the entire system
              b. its not about one moth camps. its about the day 2 day environment at Club level. If you have a girl in a top college program, you will see that its not that we cant develop, its that we get into that environment too late. Some programs are not developers, but im speaking to the ones that are.
              c. will never happen. they are already employed elsewhere in better jobs and most work with players every day
              d. sounds like what we already have..just extended. You are not addressing how to improve the pool

It goes to the player that made the investment in their own development. It does not go to the club. The clubs get their money from the customers.

ECNL has issues no doubt, but many are workable. But USSF would need to swallow its pride.
They BOTH would. the solution requires collaboration. Ive proposed it before...ONE GDA team per club. FREE. No age restriction is the basic premise. The details are easily worked out if its collaborative.

wrong. even if they financed it the Clubs would have the biggest input into its success or failure. They are still training all the players.

I think they just meant there are no compensation payments to the clubs as in systems where the clubs basically train the players for free and then get their money when the players transfer to new teams. System here is completely different.

the sub rule is a red herring. GDA sub rules certainly help develop better players. Players who can control; tempo, pace a game etc. Competition for PT should be something that happens daily in practice. A good coach will give all his players enough minutes over the course of a season to learn.
