      What you do not seem to understand is that the MLS clubs have no desire to pursue anything US Soccer offers. Red Bull’s saw a way to make money by offering a program on the girls side. They do not wish to put the same effort into the girls as they do for the boys. It did not look good for them that NYCFC was reaching the out to the girls and they were ignoring them. They added their girls program for 2 reasons only. 1) to make money to support the boys program 2) so they do not lose their female base of fans

        I never said this was about anything other then money and public relations. I understand that rb and nycfc are about boys and mls soccer.

        Parents of girls go through the slim pickings to find something for their kid. Maybe it is rb and maybe not.
        never said it would approach anything the boys would have. It most certainly will not

          With the problems facing GDA, why would the RBs even bother. I was told if they do it, they will do it right and make it free. When age appropriate. If the GDA was clearly the best league the way BDA currently is, then fine. But it’s not. I’m addition MLS will be out of DA if not next season then the season after. What would be the reason to stay in the girls side? Currently their 2007 teams aren’t even that good and better players have left or will leave. RBs will stick with making money with the RDS on the the girls side. It’s beneficial to both them and the kids. That’s what they are very good at.

            There's a much bigger pool of boy parents who (foolishly) think their kids might get selected by RB DA. They can keep including girls in camps and training sessions etc but not run teams, which takes more resources.

              Nah. They don't even want to stay in BDA and the MLS clubs will most likely pull out of that in another year. Running GDA brings them nothing compared to the time and resources it takes to run teams. Same reason NYCFC has pulled out.

                Exactly. RB are not, were not and will likely not be in the future at all about investing resources in girls. If they were they would and could have done so. They run good pay to play stuff for girls. Above average but not at all like how they focus on boys.

                  US Soccer;
                  Please get your nose out the youth club soccer business and focus on our national team. While you have been distracted, the one team we had that was worth watching, has steadily fallen apart. Are you trying to teach everyone a lesson for "Equal Play, Equal Pay"?

                    do you not understand that to be good at NT level you need to develop elite players? You dont develop those consistently in this environment - not GDA or ECNL or any other youth league. it relative. The rest of the world is now allocating professional resources to young girls and you are seeing the benefits already at youth level.

                    we dont care about elite player development , for some very good reasons, so please dont confuse reality with your GDA/USSF vs ECNL agenda.

                      GDA vs. ECNL. hahahaha. There is no difference. They are both modeled on the boys DA only with ZERO funded teams.

                        Fool. How can you focus on the National Team without focusing on the players coming into the National Team?

                        We are paying the price of letting our players develop in a club-culture that focuses on wins and profits.

                        If anything...USSoccer needs to get MORE involved in the development, not less.

                          We focus on different things here in the USA (with soccer kids at least) and taking a view of the players as complete people perhaps it isn't all bad and that goes for both boys and girls. Other countries do better at developing soccer players but make no mistake, it comes at a cost. Frequently these kids are in academy environments at age 10 where they're barely being educated and when they get dropped by the clubs and spit out at 15-16 they are way behind their peers. Sort of similar to how we've developed basketball and football players and everyone agrees that pushing kids through to finish college with a 3rd grade reading level probably isnt a good thing.

                            I dont think you paint a balanced picture at all. Relative to the money spent here, we get the bare minimum. we do a terrible job of allocating resources to where they can have the most impact.

                              If we're talking about $ spent vs what we get then yes, I didn't really cover that but the fact is we pay a lot more for pretty much everything when compared to European or SA countries. That is a function of living in a capitalist society where people do things as a profession and expect max compensation the market can sustain. Soccer as an industry is not to blame for parents being willing to over pay but the leagues and the clubs gladly reap the rewards.

                                well said...basically we as parents are to blame....we are more than happy to over pay for everything. (same goes for all activities) even buying gasoline for our cars....if the cost went up $2 gallon tomorrow (we will all grumble of course) but we will still pay. same with youth soccer. cant blame the clubs for wanting to take our money, since we are willing to pay.
