Was chatting with a NYCFC parent last night at practice, he said most of the families are resolved to accept that the roster selections will be dependent on who the team coach is. As an example an ECNL coach will naturally favored his players, and a DA coach will do likewise, so the final A teams will be based that way.

So in other words parents can blame someone else when their little star doesn't make the roster.

All I know is I saw the 05 ECNL team before our daughters tryouts, and I can't imagine any of the DA girls making that team. The same way I don't think many 03 ECNL players will be making the 03 team.

I would say that age group had the most evenly matched talent. The 04 ECNL team was decimated 2 years ago when almost all of the World Class players left for GDA. The coach of the ECNL team must have put in a lot of work to get the level of play back up. Very impressed with both groups to be honest

Right??? These GDA lemmings are SO ridiculous! When it comes to the YNT teams struggling it's all supposedly because "ECNL sucks and their training sucked and produced lousy players" but then when something good happens it's all because of the 15 minutes the kid spent playing GDA.

Riddle me this, if GDA is so great why is NYCFC/WC going back to ECNL???

NYCFC is a unique case - I'm not sure what prompted them to get into the league to begin with, and I can't really blame them for pulling out. However, the fact that many other good clubs have returned to ECNL is much more troubling. It's only made worse by the addition of even weaker clubs.

Thanks for your profound comment dick-breath, but this kid never played in the league that you mention, she went from NPL to GDA, and just so you know, the training at NYCFC is far superior to WCFC. Honestly, don't think she would of been recruited if she did not play in the GDA tournaments, or if she stayed in NPL.
