So now what does NYSC do? Looks like NEFC is pulling as well.

Will they keep themselves aligned with SkyBlue? The SB name does them no good, and in fact may add some negativity to NYSC. With their 1st and second round draft picks looking overseas, and their best player demanding to be traded, that club is in a downward spiral

Wouldn't the oldest 18/19 players be going to college?

Whoever is coaching the team will decide which players he wants on the ECNL team, and the rest will be offered a spot on the NE NPL team. If they take those spots, the weaker NE NPL players (as decided by the NE NPL coach) will be offered spots on the EDP team, and if they take the spots, the weaker EDP players (as decided by the EDP coach) will probably be cut. Sometimes the players will take the offers, some will decide they want to be on an "A" team somewhere else and leave. This is what happens every year regardless of whether the players come from GDA or not.

That is how it goes at all these clubs. People don't want to pay top dollar for loyalty. At these prices they expect the most competitive players to be rostered each year regardless of where they played the prior year. If a player is cut when a greater talent comes along, so be it.

There are still some 02’s and 01’s on that team that will be seniors next year

This is the big question now. Do they try to hold onto a sinking ship and put their trust in US Soccer, or do they explore the NL for their teams. I hope they have started to get their answer ready because once the NYCFC announcement is made, they will be put on the hot seat by their parents

There are at least 6 or 7 2020 grads from that team, some are 01’s. There are also the same amount from the current u18 ECNL team, so theoretically they could combine them for a composite team, and leave the 02 ECNL team intact.

                  Grad year age groups

There is a rumor that Ecnl will go to graduation year for all their teams (except elite national id pools just like before) to benefit recruiting, put an end to having to cobble together composite u18/u19 teams, eliminate lost years for 1/3 of 8th graders and seniors across the nation, and put one more big nail in the GDA coffin. If Ecnl implements this for next year, GDA will be hurting even more.

Other than SK, there are no better WC players, honestly, there really aren’t..

This isn't just about NYCFC folding their GDA team. If GDA folds altogether or at least in the NE there will be a great deal of turmoil everywhere. This annual landscape change up has gotten old and tiring

How do you know? Comparing that entire 02/01 group from NYCFC to the current 02 WC team, l would say the WC group is head and shoulders above the NYCFC group. Go position by position and the ECNL team wins

Which position do you want to start with?

Agree if a new player comes along who is clearly better, but loyalty should play a little bit of a role in that if a new player comes along that is not clearly better than the current player (and only marginally/subjectively better), I think the club should be loyal to the current player and keep her.

But they would not be the oldest 18/19 players, right? They would be the youngest?

This is true. Possibly already agreed upon behind the scenes.
