No. They never did what other countries do...they expect clubs to finance the teams, even though US Soccer can afford to finance them, they chose not to

You're never going to get the finance aspect unless this country decides to provide funding. So, never.

But, the idea of them being the top and overseeing it all was presented, and rejected. Pride got in the way. Not saying if I were ECNL leadership I wouldn't have done the same thing, but that's the reason.

nope. the ECNL is the board. They said no and actively banned other members from even trying to offer the competing product

They did not want to Saturate regions with ECNL teams, which is exactly what US Soccer did by adding NYSC, they already had 2 LI teams

There is room for more teams. Not every DA or ECNL player deserves to be there. But, if you take 10 from ECNL and 10 from DA and put the best 15 in a Awesome Soccer League (or whatever you want to call it), there would be enough and it would be high level.

I seem to recall that 2 years ago, NYSC made GDA offers to any WC ECNL Player they could get the ear of. They must have thought very highly of the WC ECNL leadership and their training

This is 100% true. My daughter was invited after not making the NYCFC team

They had a sit down. DA started it off with their plan and I don't believe it got past the second slide when it said that DA would be the top of the pyramid.

Says you. You want there be an exclusive league for top players so your player can be in it. But guess what - there is no money in that so no league or clubs want to do it.

It is a free market and the market is providing what the customers want. there are not enough of you for anyone to have a successful business selling what you want to buy or they would sell it.

To add...DA needed ECNL more than ECNL needed DA.

Since then we have this ongoing Ford vs. Chevy argument going round and round.

Most don't even care about which is which...they go where their club tells them and then pride takes over and they have to justify why they are where they are by pooping on the other side.

Actually, in fact, if something like the above did come to fruition I'd say it's 50-50 my kid would even make it (depending on which teams make the cut, locations, etc.).

I do agree no league would want to do it because they are there to make money. Good on them for figuring it out.

Its 100% true about NYSC families leaving to go WC ECNL, case in point.
