Sounds like the usual state of affairs in youth soccer. It is the sport of permanent chaos.

Suddenly they will start giving you the "fluid rosters between teams" line to bait arents into signing on, assuming their kid (who is a superstar, of course) will always play for the top team. The coaches will push that roster fluidity for about 3 weeks and then the rosters of A vs. B teams will essentially be set. The will continue to have some small measure of movement to keep up the pretense and to convince parents they haven't completely blown it with their club selection. By the end of the year you'll have 10 or so unhappy families but all the while the club was already out there recruiting a bunch of new suckers.

Just not sure how WCFC holds fair and open tryouts for their ECNL A teams, since they will need to show some loyalty to the families that stayed ECNL, in which case you dont really have fair and open anything, you have the very worst of youth sports.

Fluid Rosters, Teams are of Equal Talent and Ability, Kids Will Move Between Teams to Ensure Equal Playing Time, We Just Want To Make Sure Your Daughter is Developing Appropriately...

Then the parents start complaining on the sidelines, but they don't know who to trust, start checking out the clubs down the street, new kids show up at practice, and the cycle begins all over again

This is no different than at all the non MLS GDA teams. NYSC and the LI teams are now adding their HS players, and all those poor girls who were told they had to give up HS will be pushed aside. Those unhappy parents are already contacting other clubs

Loyalty? lol. No one pays top dollar for loyalty. They start doing that and they will blow it.
Evaluate the players. Make the teams and get on with it.

You sure are a negative person. Only a parent of a player who was cut or a coach fro another club would have such a negative attitude

WC needs to put the best teams forward. After talking to the current coach of the 06 ECNL team, which is very successful, looks like a reorganization of coaches is in the works. He is actually working on his transition from his team now.

You haven't been around much have you? Sure clubs will put the clear top players on the A team roster. But after about player #15 the rest are all mostly interchangeable. That's where loyalties or club politics come into play. Better to keep families happy and where they are than experience the wrath of moving a kid down who has been there awhile - even more so if there are siblings at the club.

I heard that the 02 WC ECNL team is very tight, there is a core there of about 12-14 that will always get the benefit of the doubt, they will always win the coin-toss, always.

I’ve probably been at this longer than most on this site. What you are saying is not what the other post was about. If it comes down to the last few players on a team, and the players are comparable, of course the loyalty will be the deciding factor. The other post made it as if the best players would of ever chosen for the best team, which is ridiculous

Exactly. Besides, they're mostly juniors. At this point why would you break up a team?

To compete for a National Championship, something that 99% of them will never sniff in college...

If they will be seniors next year, how many would really show up for an after graduation event, when most are heading off to D1 schools and have to report to preseason on August 1, if not sooner to take summer classes
