Completely true that NYCFC GDA was, and shall always be about The Kaz. Anyone who says differently is on-the-spectrum, and has a strange preoccupation with youth soccer blogs, to say the least. We are Happy, happy, joy, joy over here...

        Sad?
The current state of affairs in DC is sad, not youth travel soccer...

very few parents want to look objectively at quality because they are invested in their own.

This system of ECNL. GDA etc should be turning out excellent players. and if your competition thing is correct, the teams/clubs that you say teams dont want to travel to should have fewer elite players right ?
It is a coach and player that turn out a player more then a league. Just saying that one factor in folks choice is the level of the competition in the league

Non competitive games stink for all involved and no one wants to travel for them..winner or loser. I have not experienced many weak teams over the years from PDA. A few, but it is rare. Those are competitions to look forward to.

what is more important to you. Winning club games? or maximizing potential? Do you have to win club games to get better?

My point is not to compare programs , its to point out that even at PDA , considered the gold standard, they are not sending kids to the YNTs or developing impact starters at top 10 national programs. yes they are competitive in leagues they are in, but so what? one does not mean the other or vice versa.

All NYCFC has going for it? What was that? it was decent facilities and Kaz Tambi. NOTHING else.

PDA was not a big blow, It just isnt. Like i said,. its not ,like they are filling up YNTs with players is it. Maybe from a marketing standpoint, but not a practical one.

you say PDA does very well...please who ? and if not who, then how many? in the last 3 years, how many graduates are impact players at top level college programs?
                Danielle Colaprico (WNT*)
                Casey Murphy (Rutgers--graduated recently)
                Taylor Racioppi (Duke)
                Lucianna Zullo (South Carolina)
                Frankie Tagliaferri (Penn State) YNT*
                Eva Horm (Notre Dame) YNT*

You can look up their accolades, awards, and impact...This was kind of fun and not that hard to find...

There is never a simple trade off like that in this calculation. You look at your player and try to find something that can work. Trust me..my expectations are fairly low like all of us at this point. One factor people look at is what awaits on the field after all that travel. It is one thing, neither the most important or the least.

when evaluating a program, i guarantee you most people are looking at winning because they think it is the most important. most people have no clue what development is or how to measure it. They equate it to winning games.

By gda age that is not the case. Most don't value winning against a weak competitor because it isn't valuable and everyone knows it. Winning against a strong competitor isn't inherently valuable either but at least offers more developmental opportunities

Girls soccer is about volume, not quality. I think NYCFC have as many if not more YNT caps than PDA in the last 2 years

im playing devils advocate a little here, but my point stands. Good is not what results do they produce in leagues. Results are about having enough depth above a certain quality, not necessarily top quality. The PDA 2000 team that won the ECNL title...how many players from that final 4 - PDA,Stars,Real Colo, Crossifre (?) have gone on to have stellar college careers to date?
Knowing this group very well I will tell you that they have all gone on to have "STELLAR" careers......well Freshman year I will say as all those kids from that final four along with every FRESHMAN this year.

Some good points and an opinion for sure but lets remember that its not WHAT you KNOW but more WHO you KNOW. That is what gets you into YNT camps..........in my humble opinion lol lol. I know several kids from many different clubs that don't get the nod and they are flat out GOOD players and they get it in for real but again its not what you KNOW its WHO you know and WHO has the power to PULL THE STRINGS to get you that nod....again in my humble opinion.
