myth. wearing fancy uniforms does not make competition. there are numerous ways to compete. Clubs and leagues have encouraged parents to define it as narrowly as possible.

When you join in a mixed scrimmage with top players, male and female, we could argue that is better than anything you can get in any all girls league.

all this depends on your end game. most end games are not dependent on high level soccer. that is the biggest issue. the GDA , ECNL etc are far too big IF their aim is really to produce top class players. Clearly its not.

its to charge parents for the illusion of doing it.

the kids ive mentioned above would get to where they did out of any league, but really they are not the target audience. the mid level player is. you need to sell them because they are the majority. They are the ones LOOKING for external solutions to explain why their kids are not top level.

At this time last year my kid was watching the NYCFC girls with their amazing uniforms, getting invited to the training facility and to full team games and she thought it was the end all. All she wanted to do was put on that jersey. Since my wife and are fortunate enough to afford it, we thought her passion was worth the price. Throw in some promises to be invited to some training centers and we were sold. The cost was $3000. But if it was $6000, we would have paid that as well
Are the NYCFC 05 malcontent, if so, can you please just leave?? Kaz and Fredy are far better trainers than some of the other coaches, that was our reason to join, and it was the best decision we ever made...

and if they decided to coach privately, they still would be. Point is the badge makes no difference other than a place to call home.

I agree, but they coach at this thing called NYCFC GDA, and my kids HS team sucked, so it was very easy for us....

We came over from the 01 ECNL team, so it was even easier for us, as my daughter really likes her teammates, and the year-round format was challenging, its all-good.

Yes, they are unhappy. Here is the things they were promised and given:
--Kaz and Fredy coaching--check at least until recently with Kaz being absent, but we are ok with that
                      --Great facilities---Check. Can't beat them
--Training Center Call ups--Check. We had one, but there were more PDA girls there than anyone else, so did we need GDA?
                      --Great Competition--NOPE
                      --Compatible Teammates--NOPE
--Opportunities to play up--NOPE teams only have 14 to 15 players on them. With injuries, better players have to play with their teams

We had the facilities already, my daughter did private training with Fredy, so what did we get that we didn't already have?

ok ..why would you need to be promised anything? if we exclude teh firts 2 as valid, the rest are so symptomatic of what wrong with youth sports. A system is which you believe a coach can gtee you that stuff is a flawed system because you may get them but what good are they if not earned ?

Word out of Orangeburg NY is that Kaz is seriously ill, and is not coming back, that is why they are folding at the end of this season...

That is sad news. Puts all the nonsense in perspective. Just be grateful and enjoy the game in whatever form it takes for your player each day.

Unless you know something we don’t, we just heard that yes he is not feeling well, but not coming back has never been mentioned, by anyone. He hasn’t been around since mid October, but that doesn’t mean the end is near
