Back up to speed? She couldnt get assignments ahead of time or via email and do some work at the hotel if she needed to. Not for nothing, but with all of the travel my daughter did, she never fell behind. Plenty of time to get work done on the road and with ease of communication nowadays, she didnt miss a beat .... just 52 minutes per each of the few days that she missed each time in a crummy classroom. Dont be so dramatic, it is not a showstopper or hardship. If it is, perhaps beauty school or plumbing apprentice might be more appropriate than college.

Not the poster, but schools and teachers vary widely on their cooperation with students missing for things other than illness. God even illness sometimes they're a pain the azz.
We had to fight the school for accommodations when one of our kids needed surgery and missed 6 classroom days. They're under no obligation to go out of the way for your kid missing for non school sports.

That said, in college players will continue to have these issues - in D1 professors are supposed to cooperate but don't always. But at least in D1 you'll also get a lot of academic support. But in D3 professors don't have to cooperate and there's no academic support. You better be able to manage it all.

No, it was pure bullshlt. Our school system doesn't allow it. Anything that was posted on-line she could look through but it was minimal.

Not for nothing, but why the assh0le comment? How is this "dramatic"?

"Yep, and our student is going to have to get back up to speed. And, she will." It's the exact opposite of dramatic. She has to get up to speed and she will. Like...no drama whatsoever.

            Typical NYdooshiniess....

4 days missed of schedule is absurd - wrap it around a weekend so kids/parents only have to miss Friday and Monday
Is there any truth to this? This is the first I am hearing and cannot believe this could happen again.

What are you in PS162? C'mon, any school that has to have stupid rules for high achievers probably isnt that great .... to forego a life's experience to learn from inside a small room built with cinder blocks is just silly. As for dramatic, you cant fall behind in 4 days. Sorry, any of the kids that are overachievers in soccer and in the AP classrooms, should not struggle with missing a few days of classes ... its not that hard. You make it sound like she was stuck on an island with no books, electronic devices or other humans ..... for months. Dont be so dramatic.

no fvcknuts. Actually the highest rated school system in our state, which happens to also be in the top 4 of all the states in the country.

You are not following, and your New Yawkinish is showing through. I'm actually agreeing it's no big deal and she will catch up. You are so intent to prove a point that you aren't even paying attention.

                  Flippin' simpleton.

No one is do dramatic. It is hard to miss four consecutive days of AP or IB or honors classes at these supercharged competitive High schools. They cover ground fast and expect a lot from the kids. It is not impossible but it is difficult. That is reality.

If your kid is not missing a lot of material over four consecutive days and can very easily make it up, he or she belongs in a more challenging high school environment.

Ours too. Some teachers won't budge and are barely helpful even when a kid is verifiably sick. Some classes cover a lot of material in 4 days and science classes have labs.

Anyway, point is why can't USSF schedule events around weekends and holiday weekends so kids and parents aren't gone so long?

Because USSF doesn't care about you or your child. They care about money. They dangle this carrot of playing for the federation, which is morally wrong to begin with. Notice how they never speak of a player's education, college commitments, or how they get x number of college coaches to their showcases? They want money, plain and simple. They allow Fury to bring back suspended players after breaking the HS rules. We all know youth soccer is screwed up, but at least ECNL pushes college commitment. DA is pushing a false dream.

Nonsense. Why do you feel the need to elevate one over the other. They are both essentially the same thing, competing over the same players. Pick the one that suits you, but the notion that is "better" is flawed.
