Youth soccer seems like a very poorly organized 3 ring circus until you fully understand that all decisions are business decisions. Then it makes sense.

They wanted all the power and all of the money and nothing else. No plan and no care for quality certainly.

"To put it simply, U.S. Soccer wanted to control the nuances of the discussion, while the ECNL wanted more to facilitate it. There are merits to both means, but the processes are far enough apart that they couldn’t be reconciled and then housed within one league. So at least for the near future, we’ll have two."

Again, basically, they met and Lavers and crew didn't like the approach and told them to poind sand. Which is totally their right.

When did they meet and this happen; after year 1 GDA exhibited a monumental fail? In year one, just before GDA was lanuched, they had just met and USSF blatantly lied in October of 2016 saying they are not gettign involved and ECNL was doing fine and that they would continue to focus on the mens side. 6 weeks later while in Sanford tournament USSF dropped the bombshell that they were beginning GDA in the Fall. ECNL wanted to work out the details and work with USSF to reform so that there would not be a fracture of talent. USSF told them to pound sand and that they were doing it their way and that there would be no talks, end of story. They wanted all of the money and power that the women's side has that they could not create on the men's side. I hope the USSF national meeting planes crash so we can move forward.

Not the poster and the last line was inappropriate. But everything else they said is true. USSF not only wanted control but they launched GDA not long after the first lawsuit by the WNT. It was an easy way for them to say "But we really care about girls! Look, see what we're doing!" So, they get try and wrestle control and $ away from ECNL and solve a PR problem at the same time

Reality of todays society. If its not going my way I want every dead. I cant even agree with anything the original poster has to say after ending with wanting people to die in a plane crash.

Then you have a pretty closed mind and can't be convinced of anything. It's an anonymous chat board. Relax.

Everyone says stop complaining and offer a solution ..... I think the plane crashes would do it.

There is not doubt US Soccer needs to be blown up organizationally. They've no idea what they're doing, there's no real leadership and it's a bureaucratic bloated mess. However as one individual I cannot do anything about it. As a fan of the game I get to complain. With kids in the game I get to complain while trying to machete our way through the jungle of youth soccer.

Is that better? I didn't even make the plane comment and it's just that, a comment. the only thing that ticks me off on this board is when adults attack kids behind a keyboard. You really need to take it down a few notches. It's just a discussion.

I agree that US Soccr is a mess and I hope that something can get done about it. A solution can be we can stop spending our money and making their wallets fat.

With youth soccer participation down 15% in just three years maybe market forces will finally help force some restructuring. Certainly some clubs won't make it and the weaker ones will get weeded out. I'm not sure that will get rid of the league issues. US Soccer is too arrogant and clueless to realize they're part of the problem

The market forces at work in youth soccer is how many families can I find with enough disposable income to put their kid on my team. That is it. Clubs don't disappear, they just lower their standards for talent level required, or they go find some young suckers to play up, and bingo...a team is put on the field.
