    Just saying
All developed under ECNL strategies until last year .... but GDA is somehow working.

Vast majority come from the rest of the country with the west coast dominating. They're also playing at some of the top college programs in the country, all outside of this region. It's easy to pick a few success stories. U16s only had one area call up. See how that can work in the other direction?

its not the other direction. it comes down to the player. PERIOD. all this blaming the system or the club or where a kid plays - west or east - is nonsense. OP never mentioned ECNL or GDA. as usual the twisters and spin doctors will continue to spout their nonsense.

your point please? if a roster is say 28 kids, how many do you think the NE should have? Of course the majority will come from other parts of the country. Newsflash, most of the top College programs are outside the region. How on earth did these players get good enough to be considered if the teams/clubs here are so bad?

also, the majority of the U20s are not in College yet. some are 2020s ..try again.

not true. of the NE players only 1 in College. Unless im missing something, playing In College is actually positive for the OP point. Unless you think one year of college erases 10+ years of development within the system

Of course they are!! Its sunny and warm there more often then not. Duh! Players who live and train in warm weather states better be good, matter fact they better be GREAT - they have the conditions to do so! Stop trying to invalidate the fact that there are some players from this region who have gone on to big things in the sport at many different levels. Dammit, I know she's 40, but freaking Abby Wambach is from NY...Crystal Dunn....use Google and get your life together troll.

nope. the response is the same irrespective of league because its true. what this ridiculous $$ driven expansion of so called Elite soccer has done is allow parents to kid themselves that elite prices= elite soccer.

                    It doesn't

Shock. in every walk of life, truly elite is rare. its a meeting of natural talent, drive , determination and all sorts of other things. Very few are really blessed with that. Yet we have all sorts of leagues for girls proclaiming themselves filled with such players. The more they say it, the more some parents seem to believe it.

When reality hits, which it always does, you see bad teams with bad players . so parents start to blame the system for their own stupidity buying in. They say things like, dont expect to get any $$ from a college. well if this is elite soccer, surely the vast majority should be expecting that no? Or they blame the coaches for not turning an average player into a star. Or they complain about results. Or playing time etc.

                    Thats tiresome.

                      Here are your facts:

ECNL alums can’t compete with France and Germany. ECNL is the least development oriented league. This is the reason why GDA had to start.

Nope, we have entire leagues of Elite players. Heck, some clubs have so many Elite players, they have to make FOUR TEAMS of them.

                        Dime a dozen nowadays....

I think many would agree we needed to do something. However, GDA in its present form isn't going to fix what needs fixing. That's the bigger issue. Right intent, poor execution.

I'd argue right intent, poor execution, but losing the marketing battle.

As long as a league made up of "elite" players push back on everything that is truly needed to succeed, it's always going to be swimming upstream.

As long as there are parents who believe that 2 practices a week in spring, 1 practice in winter, and high school soccer are a superior approach to a residency or a 10 month long program!
