Being a "top" team in the NE is like being the tallest midget. A few teams might squeak out a few wins, but no one is bringing home any hardware.

      Not sure I follow.

At least GDA teams try to play with the ball. The most successful ECNL teams don't even try to hide it. Just launch it and go get it. Don't? Then sit.
With June 27 being GDA and ECNL overlap (also 28/29 but to a smaller extent) it will be possible to see if the college coaches come to see GDA style kick and run or ECNL style kick and walk.

Focus on one thing at a time.

Save money and book the return tickets after the 3rd game!

Why not enjoy? Looking forward to a week in southern Cali. Likely won't ever go back. Next year I'll just send her along with her team.

Agreed that parents are part of the problem - they keep paying for this foolishness. However, they also don't have many choices and the window for recruiting is limited. Parents can only do so much to fight the system. The leagues and clubs know it. At least before we only had one league flying across the country. Now we have two. Cha-ching for the travel industry

Not really. It's more driven by angst over being able to afford college.

Soccer is only 3 hours of your day out there, so make sure you plan for fun outside of soccer. Last year some of the dads got together and we went to Tijuana for a nice respite, other than losing one of our party, forever, we had a great time.

                          This 100%
And I hate the "save your money and pay for a tutor" crowd. Many of these kids are banking on athletic + academic $ to go to a school that might otherwise not be feasible. Many of these schools are upwards of 65 grand a year.

That is true but no one should be doing it expecting a payout. If it happens great, but plenty are disappointed each year. Many more want to play but just aren't college team material. Some players would be better off using the $ on test prep amd tutors. Academic money can be as good as if not better than athletic and sticks all 4 years.

The problem many soccer families have is they make enough to afford costly activities but not enough to afford $65K a year.

How about being one of those lucky ones, who was offered a full-ride to a good D1 school, and then decides it’s not for her, how about that one??
