Maybe some people abhor sitting on a beach and actually think differently. Plenty to see here in the States and we've had a blast doing it.

Give yo' nuts a scratch for me, my hands are tied up.

Miss school for sports if you want. Miss school to sit on a beach if you want. Many families will take a pass on a sporting event or a beach if too much school is missed.

There's a reason you don't see a lot of family units at games. If you have 2+ kids more often than not you have to split up for the weekend to get everyone to their activities. Teens would much rather hang out with their own friends then watch a sibling play. Most soccer events are during the school year which means everyone has to be back in school quickly. It's not cheap to fly everyone out to say CO for a few days for only a partial vacation (because games take a few hours and often fall half way through the day + team dinners and no late nights for the player). We'd much rather save that money for true family trips that everyone wants to go on and we call our own shots on the schedule.

Once you're in high school it gets very tough to miss much school. Makes no sense to pull siblings from school for another kid's event, just the player if it's necessary. Also my spouse works for herself so she can travel more easily without taking vacation days. I love watching my kids play but I get plenty throughout the year. I'm spending my $ and time on a proper family vaca.

As in "You are a proper douche"? Yes, yes you are.

Other than your absolute disgust for the league some families' play in, I don't see the difference.

We are not talking about missing a regular school day, we are talking about missing Regents testing. Regents tests are now something you can take before you go away, or when you get back. The test is given in June and August. August is after you have been out of school for 2 months

Maybe that will finally shut up complainer-dad. And really, like someone posted, what happens if your kid doesn't go, or misses one of their games? For all but a few who maybe had bad luck with an injury, nationals won't be their only recruiting opportunities.

If having a different view of a family vacation and it not being categorized, according to you, as "proper", I'm OK with that designation.

My, we are full of ourselves, aren't we?

                            Italy? Mykanos? Caymans?

                            Welcome to the real world...

Go to the id camp of the coach your player wants to play for if they can't go to California
