I know a talented kid whos parent can not afford anything. I drove him to ODP and he made it, turned it down bc there is no way she can drive him to Hofstra each week. And no way she can take off weekends for tournaments and pay additional for camp and the tourny. Also, has to stay on local town team that 10 min from his home because she cant get him anywhere else. So,..yes, you NEED money for soccer. Just this year I , regretably spent $5,300 on soccer . Travel, fees, ref fees, training club, etc. That is no joke and my kid is 13. AND does NOT play in any MLS, simply and EDP team. I am re evaluating this lunacy next year.
School sports are so far still available to all the children of the district in theory and effort should be spent to keep it that way.

So are you saying, this is dependent on the funds generated by the male talent being spent on finding and developing future male AND female players?

if you allow a team to develop its own talent and keep it, then you have created a pathway that is clearly talent based. some will choose it, some wont.
