I think that the uncertainty of East Coast GDA has most saying let’s just see how this plays out and let’s stay with something that is working for our kids. I feel for those kids, must be nerve wracking at such a crucial time in recruitment process. Sincere best to all in whatever decision they make!

You mean the transgendered ECNL born boys will now be able to play on the girls ECNL since the ECNL born boys had no chance at BDA.

BDA will still be the place for the top boys to play even "a few years" down the road.

Can't blame them. If you're in south FL the travel is crazy. Same with Northwest. As much as people complain about the travel here it isn't as bad as some other areas. To do all that for a mediocre experience and a lot of $$$ not worth it.

Poor kids don't have a lot of good options if they want to stay in GDA. What a mess.

But isn't this what everyone was saying should happen? That for a given geography, there should only be 1 DA option so that all the kids serious and skilled enough would be on 1 team without diluting everything?

Yes but it should have started that way. USSF f'd up the rollout big time. They went for full and immediate domination when what they should have done was a slow roll - either start with just one region initially or start with fewer clubs per region and proven it's value. That makes others want to join. So now they have to clean up the mess they created and the kids get caught up in it all.

Yes. They tried to kill off ECNL in one swoop and failed miserably. Now they have soured parents by adding subpar clubs into the mix.

                      Let's complain about roll-out.

Now, let's complain about a change to react to the market

Tomorrow, I'll find something else to complain about.

Nycfc gets very little interest from the 5 boroughs, you know, the actual NYC. There are a few girls from Manhattan, but it’s mostly the golden triangle, north NJ, Westchester, and Rockland.

I think parents and even clubs have every right to complain. Granted, many of the issues were predicted and they have played out exactly as predicted. But this was supposed to be the "top" league run by the national soccer leadership. The reasons for doing it were sound but the roll out has been a luster fuk. All it's done is create more turmoil. Some clubs and many players are now scrambling yet again to try and find a place to play next year. People are sick and tired of it all

The idea was sound, and still is.

Can't make people want to change. You deploy a product, the market doesn't buy it, you try another angle. It is what it is. Nobody sky is falling and the earth still turns.

I don't understand the constant obsession with something that has little effect on many, sounds like you included. Join, don't join...move along.

The rollout weakened the entire soccer landscape in our country! Not only did it create it's own 3rd tier league but it further weakened every other league substantially. US Soccer is King Midas.

NYSC DA sent out an email advertising for their programs and they included that if you participate you can play other sports just not soccer. I understand the arguments people have favoring multi-sport athletes and also understand that if they cut them out of the program they probably wouldn't be able to field teams, but isn't the point of DA that you are all in for soccer? The intention of the league was to have 10 months of uninterrupted training. If you are advertising that it's ok to play other sports you are diluting the intent and the effectiveness of the training. If you are not allowing players to participate in soccer outside of DA, why (aside from what I mentioned) allow any other sports? What is the difference?
