Yes, the current system isn't working, sizzlechest. A new system has been tried to be initiated, but it won't work because parents would rather watch their kid on the local highlights....

It doesn't mean those kids that want to play for their schools care less about the sport than kids who don't care about HS soccer. They're still just as passionate and committed, just in a different way. As long as kids are playing and happy it's all good bro.
A year later, her ECNL team is getting a good amount of attention from college coaches, she's gotten some accolades on the HS front (which several coaches inquired about) and is happy. My kid is a good player, very good, but will probably never get a NT camp invite or play for Duke, UNC, UCLA, Stanford or Penn State. But, she will have other doors opened for her because of soccer and will be an impact player wherever she ends up...because that's who she is. I would never have her give up something she loves to play in a league where, let's face it, mediocrity is more common than not.

True story of a family friend - gave up HS ball to play for a MLS club. He was pumped to play for an MLS club but giving up HS was still tough - a very good team, would have been a 2 year captain etc. Got recruited to a good school. Hardly played at all and got cut after one year. Wasn't able to find a good transfer option so he stayed because he liked the school. My kids, one boy, one girl, watched all of that. They said no way. Granted, we have a pretty good HS teams. They may have felt differently if that wasn't the case. But if one or both wanted DA I'd support that too. They're the ones playing, not me.

Nope, I just said I knew of one kid. I didn't say out of how many or other inferences to anything other than that simple fact.
I will say now, since you seem curious, that is out of about 15.

If you're a consistent starter with a good club (even more so MLS) then it's generally worth it. If you're player #14-22 look elsewhere to see what your other options are.
It's a small sample size, but from my discussions those who wished they played HS were 10%. And, that one wouldn't have if their college said 'no'.
I think, based on your arguments, you should be looking in the other direction....
