Per DA rules, only rostered players can be on the bench during the game. That means no more than 18 players would ever be on a team's bench.

Anyone know if this is enforced? If you have more than 18 on the team do the non-rostered players have to sit in the stands? Seems a bit harsh.

Teams have to submit game day rosters with only 18 players on the roster. What a club decides to do with non rostered game day players is up to them but they can't be at the bench.

No it isn't. ECNL has the same 18 player roster requirement. If clubs take on more than 18 players - as most will - they have to manage their rosters and playing time. At least with ECNL the sub rules are better to make sure all 18 play. With DA it's restricted so you might travel to a game and never play. That's crazy. With HS aged teams there's always a few players injured so it's easier to manage

I meant crazy that only 18 can sit on the bench. So not only are you not playing but you can’t even sit with the team. Doesn’t seem like that would be great for the team culture.

Grudge match day tomorrow between NYCFC and their closest rivals NYSC. Lots of crap discussed on BOTN after their last matches, but all quiet on the Hudson Front. There are plenty of morons on both sides, and some of the girls are auditioning for each other’s club, hahaha.

Can't wait to see the NYSC coaches trying to convince the NYCFC girls to come on over. #saveyourbreath

Some players who want to stay inDA or can't make WC may not have many other options

                            That's unfortunate for them

I heard they are moving across the country to play with the Nike 13 year old? Is that just wishful thinking?

Also with ECNL, the "extra" players are able to play with their B team on those days they aren't playing with ECNL. With DA, there is no second-team option. This was cited by FC Stars and PDA as one of the reasons they left DA.
