The bottom line is that a club folded up and now players in that club have to decide which other clubs they would like their kid to play at. Every kid from NYCFC is an outsider to any club that they go and try out for. Some will make it for sure, but there is no such thing as a merger on equal terms here .... we are not taking 9 kids from each team to make 18. We have a starting 11 already and your kid is competing for one of the top 18 spots with the rest of the kids that come. Sorry folks, it is supposed to be competitive sports. If NYCFC was so dominant then their kids should show up and dominate in tryouts and clean up the remaining spots and integrate nicely with their new team. Any ties of close calls always go to the incumbent though as that is good business. If you dont like it, then start a new club for your kid and her special friends.

I don't know about every age group, but at the 03 level the DA girls are FARRRRRRR superior to their counterparts. I know this as I have watched both play, both together and in their own league games. *NEW FLASH* #cluelesssoccerexpertwhoisterrified

The DA girls were strongly courted from various team both from WC and from outside, they did not roster average players, therefore the spots that were vacated by former WC players was mostly filled with NPL level talent, hence their ridiculous 2nd to last ranking in the NE. If WCFC has fair and open tryouts, the DA girls should have the majority of spots, if not, then its business as usual in this country, which is neither sad, nor surprising, its both.

Great, then the NYCFCs should pick up all 7 spots open and the 11 starters from WC and the top 7 NYCFC players should make a pretty good new team, shouldn't they? If WC goes crazy, they take top 9 from NYCFC and put out a 20-man roster.

How many outside players that were not with nycfc or WC are expected to be interested in and have the talent to be placed on these teams?

Are some players leaving to join other gda teams?

If they come, I would expect 3-5 (if not more) ..... NYC is a big area and so many great players do not play with either club currently.

Why would there be any doubt that that will be the process? No one is paying top dollar for political games regardless of where they played last year. The best 18 want to be rostered together, period.

Better yet..... The NYCFCs should take the 11 starting spots and the existing WC players pick up the remaining 7 that should make a better team right ? If WC goes crazy get 2 more suckers from WC to also stay and put out 20 to a roster

Yeah, that is not really how it works in the real world when your team is the outsider. Mergers generally take the top everything from the acquirer and fill in the gaps with the acquiree ..... not everyone outsider will be able see how truly special all of your children really are in only 90 minutes. Truth is, they don't care. They are stealing your unicorns and discarding the chafe by the wayside for whoever else wants them. The new product will be vastly better than either old product.

Just take the best 18 that show up. Outside players could get spots as well. Why decide arbitrarily on the allotment of roster spots based on past on what team they player was on last year? Who want to pay for that?

I heard that Sunday was more to show the ecnl coaches how bad their current players actually are. It was billed differently to both groups, a practice with DA players, while the DA players were told it was a tryout. Proof that WCFC is considering the DA girls chances as sub-par, the fix is in.

If any NYCFC coach coaches the new team, he will err on the side of his players, if a WC coach is the coach, he will err on the side of his players. The funny thing is that after players 4-5 for each team, they are all interchangeable anyways and your 10th player is not as special as you think she is. Regardless, the top 12-14 players will make it and the rest from either team simply dont matter except from a business perspective and those nods go to loyal customers in almost all cases.
