Well these dumb "national events" require too much real dough for playing a game

That is the crazy thing. Not one girl in our club qualified for the US Soccer scholarship program which helps pay travel expenses, but it seems a few boys did. We have players who can not afford to get out to Colorado. How is that helpful to anyone? Obviously if our club is scholarshipping a player, she must be worth US Soccer having a look at her

People have to play at the level they can afford. The "scholarships" are BS. Who will pay for a kid to fly around the country to play youth soccer other then their own family or the funded boys academies? Makes no sense and is a waste of money.

Not necessarily. Many clubs scholarship based solely on financial need. It makes it a quantifiable decision not based on politics or favoritism. That doesn't mean the player is a top player just probably good enough to be a consistent starter. Also, it's all relative. A "top" player on a poor team isn't necessarily one of interest to USSF. Families knew the costs going in. They never should have expected anything. There's no money in girls soccer. Why do you think MLS clubs or NWSL didn't get involved more heavily?

Sorry but I don't have much empathy for families who thought they might get some assistance or didn't thoroughly research the cost of participating in this or any other costly league. Travel is a well known expense to these leagues, sometimes running even more than the club fees themselves.

I have empathy because it stinks that the so called "top level" on the girls side is only for those with the cash and if that player were male, they could maybe have access to a funded academy. Unfair and frustrating but such is life. Youth soccer for girls is not for those without a fat wallet.

That is one of the most stupidest posts in a bit. Clubs pay for kids that can't afford it. They should. Clubs pick kids that fill spots. Our club had kids on a team that were cut from other teams in the club. Another older team in the club had spots. They took them. And the club paid for some. Has nothing to do with whether or not they even deserved the spots more importantly if US Soccer would have a look. They filed a slot and some received payment to do it.

I know some parents that had a tough time affording it, but would never ask for help. Should their kids get promoted because family are sacrificing at home instead of asking for help? League and aid should have nothing to do with it in the land of politics.

What clubs for girls cover travel costs? Only some boys academies do that.

So you’re saying that if a player is super talented, she should not get the chance to be seen at a national level? If that is US soccer’s view, those families should go back to their club that was helping them to finance their travel. The team where they had friends who helped their daughters get to events because they knew they helped their team and that was the only way these girls would get their shot to be seen

Not travel, spots on the team covered by some clubs (financial aid).

If she can show it on the field, why not. If not, then it's probably a bust.
There are too many that get called in that shouldn't already. You have watched the last few WC's with the YNT's right? And surely these kids were "seen" previously too. Playing age group with a team you know is different than playing internationally. The international academies are no joke. Those kids have very high soccer iqs. Niece played internationally vs adult teams and youth academies when she was younger.

That is disproportionate, as travel costs 3X as much as tuition, in both ECNL and GDA, so either you got it, or you don’t, and if you don't, sorry, but NPL is that way>>>

I am sure if a boy or girl gets financial aid for tuition, they get travel expense as well or at least a portion. Why would you pay for a kid to train and not get them to the events with the team; unless the kid is overmatched as far as level and just filling a spot.
