Maybe the 03 NYCFC team is strong, but you can not tell me the other age groups have ALLLLLL the best players
Sling against NYSC but they have had success on the boys side and they deserved to move up from NPL and were held back by market share BS. They wanted to play ECNL but competing clubs in the area voted against them to maintain their positions of power and avoid the increased competition for players.

One big problem with creating such elite leagues is that the governing bodies have to balance that teams need other teams to play against. If GDA hadn't expanded at all wouldn't the travel be that much worse?

If you're league consists only of NYCFC and Fury and then Oakwood, how are they going to get game time within reason? These arent MLS teams theyre girls teams with tuition. They dont have a team bus taking them to montreal or maryland and most people wouldnt want their 15 year old girl traveling with a bunch of soccer coaches, anyway.

Yes, two teams would have been all players of the most excellent level and they could have scrimmaged each other every week in some superstar elite soccer version of the globetrotters vs the washington generals.

IMO the issue is that ECNL and GDA are not one league. That is the only way you can reduce total teams, travel and cost. We'd have a really good metro area league if it was all under one body. At its heart it is all because of $$$. Leagues and teams put their marketplace position at the highest importance. Thats why we will have GDA, ECNL, ECNL2, NPL, EDP, LIJSL, NYPL, Metro, NYCSL and on and on...

      LISC

U15s 5-5-5 +3 GD, 5th place, not in playoff contention currently, went 1-2 in FL
      no other older teams

      FC Fury
      U15 6-7-1 + 1GD, 4th place, not in contention, went 2-1 in FL
      U17 7-5-1 + 9 GD, 4th place, wildcard contention, went 3-0 in FL
      U19 5-4-3 + 7GD, 2nd place, playoffs, went 3-0 in FL

      Alby
      U15 3-10-1 - 26 GD, 2nd to last place, went 2-1 in FL
      U17 2-10-1 -31 GD, 2nd to last place, went 1-2 in FL
U19 0-9 -57 GD, dead last, went 0-3 in SPECTACULAR fashion in FL (- 20 GD in just 3 games)
Don't forget to take into consideration that their U14 teams are also struggling.
      Fury has 2 Ws
      Albertson has 2 Ds
LISC is getting slaughtered on a weekly basis, with multiple 8+ goal losses...

      Really a shame!

You seem to forget that GDA is more about training and less about games. The original league should have been the Northeast not the North east and then the Atlantic. How many times should a team play Albertson or Fury? We play them 12 times this year. We would have preferred traveling for competitive games, as opposed to going to Long Island 6 times

its usually not the key components of a club that change. its usually parent perception and the over emphasis of the impact that competitive games have on the recruiting process. its parents thinking that playing a different set of teams confers more prestige. fact is being a great player is the most powerful recruiting tool out there and VERY few parents focus on taking steps to give their kids a chance achieve that OR to find out what the "level" is

You may have a point on that but PR does have friends in the ECNL that are in high positions but not sure if he has burned that bridge with the move he made to GDA. Lets say if all happens that we say will happen and the GDA turns sour in 2 years. Can anyone say that LI will be better with just 2 ECNL teams. Lets not that LI is a BIG area and you are not only dealing with LI but you still have parts of NYC and the rest of the Boroughs that may have kids that want ECNL. Again just my opinion but interesting to say the least.

On BOTN LM states that Sky Blue is involved in NYSC. Can someone tell me if this is true. My daughter played at PDA in the GDA with the Sky Blue branding on it, and other than tickets to a game, we got nothing from them. They can’t even keep their draft picks, how are they supporting a youth club?

Yes they are affiliated with NYSC........BUT...........trust me they are not doing anything financial for NYSC. It's a one way street there. Being at PDA you should have known that or figured that those tickets weren't FREE.

Thats the point. Its not new or rocket science is it. Instead parents want to focus on other stuff

Exactly. Need to separate branding from involvement

Hmmm I did think they were free because I didn’t think one actually paid for them

Yeah I know but I heard long before that the own of PDA brought season tickets for his whole club. Which would make sense when you think about it. Ask anyone from NYSC about what they paid and I bet it was a discounted ticket that they got to purchase.

Last night the GDA died in Orangeburg, not with bang, but with a whimper.
