If the cost were subsidized, then there would be greater demand and it would sway (qualified/talented) players from other clubs and other leagues. The more players that are interested, the more selective they can be.
Ty for saving me the time to explain it. My D is at NYCFC. I hear parents all the time saying - oh i hope they subsidize. I think sure, but if they did , why do you think you would still have a spot?

if you want to look at where NYCFC GDA currently stands internally at NYCFC - look at social media coverage. Its non existent for the girls relative to the boys. NYCFC have not focused on GDA at all. Its all "in name only". They need to really get more involved in it if the goal is to leverage the power of the NYCFC brand.

Yes, but NYCFC has no real incentive to do it. They don't have a women's pro path and very few GDA clubs are doing it now, so they don't have to compete on price (it sounds like their costs are slightly lower anyway, but not necessarily enough to be a factor in decisions).

True. There is no funded soccer for girls.

there only incentive to do it would be for public relations reasons and a great story for marketing purposes.

It's great for those who benefit, but the $$ has to come from somewhere to pay for the facilities, trainers, etc. In this particular case, I don't see NYCFC just footing the bill.

The incentive is there. the negative publicity for them as a GLOBAL leader in the game is not worth the money it would cost to do it right. Imagine the positives from helping develop kids an sending them off to some of the great Colleges ? Or turnig out teams with some of the best female payers in the NE? its a no brainer for them. No other reason to put thier name on it

you cannot compare a multi BILLION dollar enterprise to the PDAs and Stars and FURYs of the world .

Its obvious they are not fully involved yet - its still WCFC GDA. They should go all in, or get out imo.

To NYCFC and the Redbulls. Your competition for fans is with each other. if one of you steps up for the girls and runs a funded Academy, you will have an advantage in attracting fans.

the money is peanuts to them. No reason to be in it unless its done right.

It's not going to happen right now, especially with GDA still figuring out how to be a competitive league. Be thankful you have a good GDA as an option. Others in the area are stuck with subpar choices across many factors.

It's still money that could be used for men's programs which have a ROI. They already get the goodwill from offering the GDA itself to girls.

lol. Where I am, I have no good gda or anything to be "thankful" for. But if you do, that is great.

Agree. Only chance it would ever happen is if one MLS organization uses it to gain advantage over the other one.

I wish it were funded but I do think they get credit for running a gda. Redbulls do not do that.

They have produced some really cool high quality videos of training sessions along with one that introduced the new training facility across the street (I know it is for the men's team only at this point). Girls got a mural on the wall in the hallway as well. Nice touch.

Red Bulls ramping up their RDS program for girls - I think full blown girls teams are not far behind. Stay tuned.
