NE is densely populated and has lots of interested players. If California is going to split off and do their own top league, why can't NE do the same? The huge costs of trying to have national leagues for youth soccer is not worth the time and energy for places like CA or NE. There are plenty of player to have a top regional league and so many NE players will attend NE colleges that it makes sense to do competitive youth soccer regionally here.

Makes much more sense to have regional leagues - each can have their own playoffs with winners going to a national championship. USSF can recruit NT players from there. Most kids want to go to school less than a half days drive from home. Two leagues that require hauling coaches and players all over the country for meet and greets is rediculous.

So if LISC is out, Empire should be out if they have any common sense, also rumors that PDA and Stars are out. What's left if that's all true? There's not really many other good clubs left to fill the gaps, and they'd be even more hesitant to join now. GAD may be the king elsewhere in the US but not in the North east.

SUSA and south shore select are top clubs who would be great additions to gda and certainly upgrades to FC stars (considering their talent was split with Ecnl team) and LISC. Plug in sjeb, stallions, or wildcats in jersey and obviously it’s not pda but they will be competitive.

But do these families want to play gda? If they did, they could have played for a gda cub. Families know the league before they choose the club. How many families will leave if they do not want to play in whatever new league the club joins?

There are obvious down side to heavy travel, very expensive leagues and there should be options for families that would like to avoid them and still try to play competitive soccer.

LISC parents should just flat out ask (in writing-via text or email) the folks at LISC what league their child will be playing in come Fall. LISC trainers are currently interviewing at other clubs citing "LISC no longer playing in GDA" as the reason.

1 of 4 things will happen if you ask-
A. they'll say GDA
B. they'll say a league other than GDA
C. They'll say they're not sure at this time
D. They'll ignore you, in that case see response B or C

LISC parents should be preparing regardless, there is virtually no upside to playing at LISC.

With tryouts and ID sessions occurring at some of the other DA clubs not listed in prior conversations, what would that mean for our girls who are hanging on thinking that their respective clubs are continuing with DA???

Doesn't this leave them out in the dust?? And the possible DA Clubs that *may* form ... when will those tryouts be??

This info needs to be released soon so everyone can prepare for next year adequately. Guess that will never happen (that the soccer people care about the players).

Honestly, even if LISC manages to retain its GDA status (if USSF is desperate with Stars and PDA pulling out, among others in other regions), would anything change depth-wise? They are not going to attract any new players that belong at that level. It has been a mess.

When NYCFC planted its 1st GDA flag, they tapped a moderately successful ECNL club that was essentially "all in" on board with GDA, in an area that had no other ECNL option to compete with and very few other clubs in the area worth mentioning. NYSC was an OK NPL club with a handful of elite and NT level players that NYCFC was able to attract, because their GDA badge wasn't announced until months later.

The situation on LI is very different. Fury players are loyal to PR and they've seen some success in their inaugural GDA year, you'd be hard pressed to persuade the players worth having to jump ship. East Meadow players that were interested in playing GDA already left and the rest are happy with ECNL. Most Susa players are multi sport athletes that want to play HS sports with very few having the level of ambition that is required for GDA. Massapequa and Brentwood (including KK Atletico players) got a taste of GDA this year with LISC and I don't think they were all that thrilled.

It's not like LISC just needs a few strong players to be competitive, they need a top to bottom makeover and there just isn't enough talent on LI willing to play guinea pig to sustain it.
