I’ve heard a female asst from America East, a D2 head coach male, a D2 head coach female both from the area and a fired head coach male. But from everything I’ve heard the AD is looking for a female.

Stupid to limit the search to women. There simply aren't many quality ones out there.

Are you one of the “stupid group” of Marist parents? Do you know the D1 Womens Champions UCLA is coached by a women and the Men’s Coach of D3 Champions John Hopkins is coached by a women. Marist is in no position to limit there search for a coach. Any coach coming in has to clean up this train wreck.

So close! Yes, Johns Hopkins did win a DIII National Championship this season but it was in women's soccer and they're coached by Dan Weiler (He/Him), a former colleague of mine.

The program that you're thinking of is the University of Chicago, who won the Men's DIII National Championship, and are coached by Julianne Sitch.

Given the fact that Marist only has one other HC that is female, Jessica Wilkison with lacrosse, it would be a good decision to hire a female coach for the program.

The poster didn't say there aren't good female coaches, just that there aren't many of them. I happen to agree. You take the best coach that's the best for for the program, fit for the school etc regardless of gender. I've seen as many bad female coaches as male.

Maybe theres a Marist alum who is a coach elsewhere? A lot of schools have former players as coaches. Once they've earned their coaching stripes (usually elsewhere but sometimes at the school) they can become passionate ambassadors for the school and program. Face it, selling the program will be tough initially. The upheaval is a negative nor does Marist have the academic clout Hopkins has.

They need to hire the best PERSON for the job.

Dartmouth just hired a female head coach (Taylor Schram, who was an assistant coach at Boston College). D played for her in a U23 summer league and said she was the best coach she's ever had.

Lots of great male coaches out there as well. Being a woman isn't a guarantee they'll be good. They need to get this hire right, once and for all.
