All of these young women are going to be going professional in something other than soccer in very short order. Dealing with adversity and being part of team are pretty good skillsets to take to the next level.

As someone who has many recent college grads working in my organization, I can tell you that college athletes are coveted in the workplace. The deal with a lot of BS and are very good at time management. I can tell you that playing time isn't a consideration for students we recruit!
Keeping on a similar theme from above post, some coaches do see certain players as "cones." Even teammates will. Players have to impress from day 1 and constantly prove themselves. it never let's up. You may survive one season but a new crop of recruits knocks you off the bench. Most players come in accustomed to being top players on their club and high school teams. Some won't be able rise to the challenge. Coaches aren't perfect at predicting who will work out, in part because of the mental toughness piece. It's way harder to assess compared to soccer skills. As has been discussed the importance of mental toughness to survive and thrive in college sports can't be stressed enough. That is why those company hires you mention thrive in the work environment.

All very true. That’s why it’s so important that you pick a college that you want to attend as a student. They must have another outlet beyond soccer. If they picked a college based just on soccer and that does not work out then it’s a disaster. My daughter’s goal on day 1 in preseason was to gain the respect of her teammates with her play on the field. That is the first step. Second show that your a good supportive teammate. After that it’s getting experience and trust from the coaching staff.

If a player is not happy after talking to the coach then the student/athlete has options.
Your lack of command of the english language is the most disturbing thing I've read on this thread. With any luck you don't work at this college or any other so these kids are truly screwed!

Not the OP, but seriously "most disturbing"? Your response is pointless and doesn't add any value. The only issue the poster had was the use of "there" instead of "their". You certainly could understand their point. Make a contributory post that is focused on the issue instead of one that waste's everyone's time.

Other than one small word error, not sure what was so disturbing about that poster's command of the english language. Perhaps it is your command of the english language that needs work?

Do yo have a problem with the word or the overall message. Makes sense to me. That is college soccer in a nutshell. College soccer is not for the faint of heart. New Coach wants players who they recruit.

When you only have grammar to criticize you've already lost thr argument

Not the OP but agree that not understanding the difference between there and their speaks volumes on intelligence level. Very difficult to take any comments seriously when you can’t structure basic sentences. Keep in mind that this thread is supposedly about soccer at an institution of higher learning. Clearly some of you aren’t educated but quick to give your BS opinions on everything.

Most of the posters here are “cones” in life.

Or it could have been the result of autocorrect? Or maybe English is not their first language? So many possible reasons why…

Other than "there vs their" the rest of their post was fine and also accurate. That doesn't mean the poster isn't intelligent or doesn't have something to add to the conversation. Dismissing someone over a minor mistake is very small minded of you. I'm sure you're always perfect

Hey “Angry Bird”, why do you have such a “chip on your shoulder”? What speaks volumes is your attitude towards a grammatical error and then being derogatory about someone’s life. I have no issue if someone makes a grammatical error. Are you this tough standing on the sidelines at your daughters soccer match? You sound like one of those parents who lose “their” mind when a player makes a mistake and starts screaming during the game. I think in the game of life you are “a day late and a dollar short”. I had no problem understanding that post. Keep in mind that this thread is mostly anonymous TS parents like yourself who think they are smarter about soccer than everyone else.

In the game of life, people who can’t structure basic sentences are generally three steps behind. I don’t say a thing at soccer games. It’s college soccer, the parents don’t know one another aside from a few passing conversations and the handful of “screamers” just look like idiots.

I think the structure of his sentences was fine, just had one word that maybe autocorrect had wrong.

Except that the structure of his post was perfectly acceptable. It also was accurate. Obsessing over there v their - a common mistake especially with autocorrect - that doesn't change the ideas in the post is petty. You no doubt judge your family, friends and colleagues as well for that mistake, and are a joy at parties.
