There are strong teams in the Gal across the country in different age groups. The Gal will have their own tournaments and be free to participate in elite showcases. Seems like a win win.

But this is a thread about ECRL. One of the benefits of ECRL is an automatic invite to Jeff Cup and PDA Showcase. FC Virginia may be terrific, but not an option for players in NJ.

I never stated they were being "recruited" in 8th/9th grade.

I said "conversations". I happen to know several coaches in the Northeast from my playing days so I can get an understanding what possibly some cannot. And, to be clear, NONE of them are in the tippity-top programs in the country. I know the FSU coach, that's about it. But my kid isn't a prospect at that level.

The fact of the matter is all know our situation, know what's going on with the leagues, many have seen her play (some since she was 4 years old) and all have said there is no reason to switch leagues.

That's wherein the difference lies. I made it very clear from the beginning that I was talking about a coach from a Big East conference school that said they would strongly suggest a move to ECNL. You're talking about a D2 coach who said your kid is fine in GAL, which considering the bulk of those rosters are NPL/EDP players, GAL would be perfectly fine competition to prep her for college.

STA and CSA’s second teams have been participating in the major tournaments around the country. I don’t think it would be a stretch to assume that the 1st teams will be there as well.

No, I'm talking about coaches, as in plural (i.e. more than one). I mentioned the D2 coach because we happen to have had a beer together. The coaches I reference, are from all Divisions. Hey, even NAIA if that matters to you. The range from ACC D1 on down.

OK and all I did was basically say the coach I talked to said the path was fine "for now". Good luck to your daughter (no snark implied), it's a crappy time for all the kids right now.

Wonder why they would do that? Especially if the goal is to get ECNL, wouldn't you want to put your first team in ECRL to ensure that you can dominate and thereby get accepted into ECNL the following year?

The wording on some of the websites for clubs with GAL & ECRL is very vague to say the least. Lots of "Academy Team" and "Showcase Team" type of verbiage, which is weird because it looks like the "Academy Team" plays ECRL.
If one had to speculate, I'd assume there's some hybrid type situation going on at least. The end goal of most of these ECRL ventures is to utilize the Regional with the hopes of eventually getting accepted to ECNL. GAL will take everyone that was in GDA and will not likely drop anyone for poor performance. No risk in putting B team in GAL, higher stakes with ECRL.

why would PDA allow any team to join ECNL when they have 3 teams in ECNL and they can just force the best players to join PDA and dont have to bother training anyone? you are so naive

True I cannot see PDA undercutting their own revenue here in the east. Nor would worldclass want NYSC in their back yard. Altruistically, it makes sense to have competition but human nature wants to create monopolies. Either way the east coast landscape is screwed because even if invited I doubt CSA or STA or SJEB would accept. I would think that they don't trust the ECNL on the east coast. They would probably find themselves a member of the regional league forever no matter how well they did in competition. -unless of course the evaluation was objective.
