What they did to SC was wrong. He is not a martyr, and I actually dislike the guy. I dislike him so much, that we joined STA, Tim promised us that he would NEVER coach the 03 girls. Guess who coached them on occassions when Tim was spread too thin. Yep the 2003 girls. We weren't happy, but you know what, as much as I dislike him, he is still better than any other coach at STA

I see elsewhere in this thread, people commenting on his sideline behavior. Say what you want about his coaching abilities, his knowledge of the game. I am sure the guy knows his stuff. Do you think that kind of unhinged behavior best serves the development (on and off the field) of adolescent girls?
I have a daughter at STA, outside of the ages he coached, so his short run at STA didn’t affect my family at all. There is no way in hell though, that I would subject my child to that kind of treatment.

Was it really wrong to fire him though? It’s apparent, just from reading this thread, that multiple families made formal complaints to the club about his treatment of their daughters. Claims of abuse against a coach are no joke, especially in today’s social climate. Should STA have kept him on despite those complaints?

You didn’t actually respond to any points I made in my post though... Do you think it was wrong for STA to fire SC, if multiple families complained about his behavior? A quick skim through this thread will pretty much confirm that’s what happened, among other things.

A shame. It was a good team. All those factors probably contributed to failing the kids.

“ Emotional abuse involves deliberate, prolonged, repeated non-contact behaviours that occur in unbalanced relationships of power such as between a coach and athlete. Researchers suggest emotional abuse by coaches can include belittling, humiliating, shouting, scapegoating, rejecting, isolating, threatening and ignoring.”
Is it possible (or probable) that the “weakest” players (as you say) were more of a target for this kind of a behavior, and that their experience playing under him was different than say, the strongest players on the team? Is it possible that their performance could have been affected negatively by their treatment?
