Sounds like he and your stupid family are a match made in heaven.

No I am not white trash. I dont call my kid stupid. And you are out of your mind if you think Cryer Screaming "You are so Stupid" in front of all of the kids team mates and parents is acceptable. And by the way it does not stop there. The "stupid" was just one example

A definition of ‘emotional abuse,’ specifically how it relates to the player - coach dynamic. I challenge anyone on here to actually read this, and then ask yourself honestly - has SC ever exhibited these types of behaviors?

I am sure his supporters will turn a blind eye. But some of us cannot.

“Emotional abuse involves deliberate, prolonged, repeated non-contact behaviours that occur in unbalanced relationships of power such as between a coach and athlete. Researchers suggest emotional abuse by coaches can include belittling, humiliating, shouting, scapegoating, rejecting, isolating, threatening and ignoring. These forms of abuse can be subtle and hidden in accepted coaching practice.

Coaching that uses such methods can contribute to psychological distress and cause emotional breakdown in athletes. In youth sport, participants who suffered emotional abuse reported a range of emotions including feeling stupid, humiliated and depressed.”

Yup. He is mental. But lets just ignore all of that so our kids can be great

If a school teacher talked to the the kids the way this guy talks to his players they would be fired too. You people need to get a clue. Like others have said If you are ok with how he treats your daughter then go follow him and enjoy. But as for me and the majority of parents at STA, his behavior is unacceptable. Obviously his employer thinks so and that's why he is gone
Not sure snowflake is the right word but definitely not one for the frail child or parent that wants child to receive a trophy every game.

              - Good trainer developing kids into strong players. Resume says yes.

              - Issues being employed. Resume says yes. Most colleagues can't stand him since Crush fiasco.

              - Practice abuse. Resume says no. Mostly crazy parents saying this is a problem when Suzy struggles.

              - Sideline lunatic when a child struggles in game. Resume says yes. It's a mess at times. No girl should be crying for playing bad.

If you child is like mine and just wants to have fun playing soccer. Go another direction.

There are 4 points to add to this:
                  - the definition is absolutely correct
                  - the abuse based on this definition happens from coaches, teammates, parents
                  - EVERY coach I’ve seen on MULTIPLE elite team uses multiple forms of abuse as defined above
                  - this is less of an issue when you play for fun or recreationally

I think it’s ironic that folks here on anonymous forum apply one standard to one coach and a different standard to other coaches. When the issue is winning and competition, needing to overcome a tough selection process, abuse will be there as a form of motivation or weeding out.

Please stop trying to justify his / your actions . If parents wanna follow him and justify his behavior so be it . I’m not anymore . He offers no pathway to college. Anything he did in the past was through a club not his own . Let’s see how this works out down the road.

Add the DA / US Soccer element to this, and it’s another recipe for disaster. I wonder what the US Soccer scouts thought of his antics on the sidelines when they were watching games.

Let's put it this way parent of struggling Suzy. He didn't get fired for practice issues or practice abuse.

It was because of his nonsense during games. STA, US Soccer and parents had enough of it and it's their brand and right not to tolerate it. He was warned multiple times to tone it down at events and games.

Absolutely Yes. His nonsense. The SC defenders and brainwashed parents fail to recognize this and place blame on STA and will come up with any way they can to justify his nonsense. I only blame STA for hiring him in the first place. They knew what they were getting and thought they could change him.

My kids never trained with him or played on his teams. My kids played with coaches that were abusive in many other ways that the PP described:
[...] include belittling, humiliating, shouting, scapegoating, rejecting, isolating, threatening and ignoring [...]
If you don't agree with this definition, and are not observing it on other elite teams, we have a problem of definition of what abuse is.

They had to get more talent for DA. STA just didn't have it for DA level soccer. They got what they wanted. Tried to make it work with him. SC couldn't zip it on sidelines. Parents of struggling kids jumped in along with legit complaints by other parents, US Soccer wasn't going to tolerate it, STA staff of coaches didn't want him in the first place as well. Recipe for disaster.

Hey but STA added much needed talent to 06, 05 and 04 DA from bringing in SC. Almost kept the future stud 07s and 08s as well. Some top end players in those age groups gone. Hopefully SC develops and they come back to STA.

Agree. It would of been a disastrous start for STA DA if they didn't bring in SC. Now they need to keep the talent and use DA to attract talent from a weak ECNL training platform.
