depends on who goes... boys playoffs was in San Diego last year... I priced it out for a family of 4 and it was about $5K. The biggest cost were the flights (but I fly direct etc).

Gawd we are so lazy today.

Price some flights, look at a couple of hotels, add in some food costs (which you need to either whether you go or not). Boom, there's your price.

Flights about $500 per person ($1000)
Hotel at ECNL designated hotel about $200 per night ($1400)
Food about $100 per day ($700)
          Car rental or Uber ($500)
          Car service to/from EWR ($200)

about $4k for two people plus any team activities/sightseeing/booze/etc.

Del Mar, CA is a pricey town. So, food and nights out can get pricey. I agree with the comment above: about $400-$500 per flight per person, you def need a car in Del Mar. Spread out with hills. If you have a pricey hotel in Del Mar middle you can walk to all the fabulous restaurants but fields are off the beat and path. During games we ate at Whole Foods a lot since it was close to fields.
Depending on how many days your team is there it could get about $5k.

Stay in Carlsbad, fantastic town. We went twice, once staying there and once staying in San Diego. Fun area, lots to see and do, what better way to spend a vacation enjoying the sites and watching some ball?

When the travel soccer is over the memories are priceless! My daughter and I had some of our best times traveling to tournaments by car and air. The cost depends on your own experience and what those experiences mean to your daughter after the travel soccer has ended.

Further proving that club soccer in America is for the rich. We will continue to miss out on bad ass inner city and low income talent because if you go to nationals + showcases + conference travel + privates (which are necessary to keep up these days/…. Club soccer costs no less than $10k a year for one kid but more like $15k.

                            Prove me wrong.

It's a fair point. My daughter has had a lot of success and likely holds the "best" title for her area (not bragging, it's OK to admit reality). But, I have and will always say that the "best" youth soccer players (mine included) are the best who come from areas where there are opportunities, we can afford it, and can accommodate the travel. I'll never be naïve enough to admit apples to apples, given the same opportunities, someone likely would've been better. Dems dah breaks.
