How old are you seeing this? Eventually, the bubble breaks in my experience.

A few years ago, the best girl athlete in our high school was a multi-sport athlete and soccer was her second sport. She was the best player on her club team, which was a mid-level EDP team that had other players who worked really hard but simply didn't have the physical abilities she had.

Is this b/c more kids are specializing or b/c less kids are multisport athletes?

From my perspective - most kids don't work outside of practice consistently... and schools and clubs are forcing kids to specialize. With loaded sports schedules, I think it is virtually impossible to be a multisport athlete and be on two clubs (ex: soccer and baseball) and be allowed to be on the team.

In like a decade I think we all are gonna wonder what the heck were we doing to our kids.

            - Goes to their club's training twice a week and gives effort to improve, but isn't there physically or mentally at their given age
            - Juggles or passes a ball on their own at home

            Player D:
            - Goes to their club's training twice a week and gives effort to improve and does so.
            - Goes to supplemental training twice a week
            - Juggles and passes a ball on their own at home

Players A-D play for the same club team in hopes to play at a competitive level:
            - Who gets more playing time?
            - What options do players who see less playing time have to get more time?
            - Are the coaches to blame for playing time?
            - Are the kids to blame for playing time?
            - Is it fair to have uneven playing time?
            - Is it fair to have even playing time?
            - Should player A look to move to a lower team?
            - Should player D look to move to a higher team?

I pay and my ulittle Susie deserves to play! If the coach didn't have such favorites he would see how good she is!

Players B and C get the least playing time since you said they aren't there physically or mentally. If you lack soccer IQ and are slow, I can't play you and I probably made a mistake taking you on my team (blame on me 100%, not on you). If you're fast and your physical limitation is lack of strength that is different though as I can work around that. Player A almost never exists on higher level teams as you get older. If this is a lower level team then it should be equal playing time or close anyway so feels like D is all I am left with. I don't care that D goes to supplemental training (I don't train my own players on the side, but extra income there could be relevant to some coaches), but the effort at my trainings and work at home is necessary. I assume D is adequate mentally and physically since you didn't say otherwise.
