If you’ve been to 4-5 national college showcases already and you’ve been seen plenty of times by the big name D1 schools you so badly want and they’re still NOT calling you, guess what………

YOU’RE NOT WANTED THERE.

Your club coaches should be honest with you and tell you to revisit your list of schools and start editing that list.

They should be honest with you to start canceling out a lot of schools on your list that athletic you can’t play at.

Or maybe you and your parents are too afraid of that honest conversation??

Advice? Demand that honest conversation with your coach and start having conversations with the schools that do want you!

Maybe. Not all programs are done with 25s yet. Lower level programs will wrap up early spring. Most of the money will be gone, however. More importantly of you're recruit #7 the coach is less confident about your future impact. Is that where you want to be? There's still time for D2 and D3.

2026s take note: good targeting is the key to success. This is one area where you don't want to stretch too far. You want a program where you can play and make an impact.

What do you mean when you said “you have been seen plenty of times by big name schools”? Do you mean that these players have previously been identified by these coaches and have been in discussions with these coaches? Did the club reccomend these players were of high quality to these top big D1 schools? Are these reach colleges for these players? Can you be more specific.

If all you do is go to showcases but never communicate with the coaches or attend any ID clinic they are hosting then they may never see you.

My kid committed to an NCAA tourney team at the end of January of her Junior year and had two confirmed, hefty offers from NCAA tourney schools to decide from. One school, they hadn't seen her play before as she recently moved to "that" league. The other, where she ended up, I'm pretty certain had someone back out so they worked down their list to her. There were 3 other schools in the mix that we held off with as they were secondary. Yes, some of the reach schools she took the hint and moved on from.

So, yes, there is still time. Not ideal, but it's not time to declare it dead yet. All depends on what you mean by "big name"....

Again, this is all anonymous so no one knows the truth what this TS person is saying. As far as the 2025’s depending on where a college is on the soccer pyramid there recruitment is just about finished as far as there major recruits. Well, it didn't say P5...it just said "big name" and as I said, that it depends on what you consider "big name". If "really big name P5 schools" are now the goalposts, then I agree.

Why would I, or anyone, just go through the effort to offer a perspective just by making up several random details? I have much better things to do with my time.

I agree it's getting late, real late. Anyone getting offers from consistent tourney-bound teams are fortunate. As I said, now knowing how her offer was structured, her position, roster makeup, etc and compared to others on the team, I believe someone backed up and they just moved that offer over to my D. That's extremely fortunate. The other "finalist", it really came down to her recently being seen.... and I quote "where have you been?" Which, as to the original post, was NOT a situation where she was seen several times...rather, it was once and they made immediate contact. She had tried to get in touch of this school several times, but wasn't drawing any interest until she moved clubs.

In the end, how or why it happened we really don't care about. She ended up at a very, very good school with an excellent program for her career and with a very, very good financial package. I am NOT, absolutely NOT, suggesting this is the norm. Just, that, it CAN happen.


I always tell people there are players who take calls, and there are players who make calls. We were making them for a long time before she took them. (calls being a generality about 'contact')

I wasn't clear...The didn't just give her an offer. They saw her play, reached out to her and expressed interest. They then saw her play twice more, and invited her to an ID Camp, where they quickly did. The point is it was all very late in the cycle, where (I assume) many/most/all of the preferred players were off the table.

Coaches definitely work their way down their list of wanted players. Not every offer will be accepted so they move to the next one on the list. Ideally you'd want to be in that first group but plenty of players aren't and they still find success.

The process is stressful. Hang in there. Keep checking in with programs. Keep checking on your targeting.

That’s right you weren’t clear. This late in the game it all depends on the roster needs as far as depth. The top players on the list get the best scholarship offers because they all have choices. When coaches go down further on their list it’s about depth with whatever amount is open for them to spend in the 2025 class. That’s the standard but there are always exceptions depending on the program. There is more movement in mid majors and lower conferences.

Of course. But, again (and post above alludes to it) spots open up when players change their mind, maybe a transfer that wasn't intended....I am not saying it's common or anyone should be expecting it. I am not even disagreeing with the original post.

I merely told my kid's story. Not sure why the NJ board is always in "hit 'em back first" mode?

Heck, look at UNC Women's: They have 12 players on their spring roster. 75% of the roster from last year is gone. Players went pro, transferred, some backed out of verbals. In summary, shlt can happen

For those who have been through the process what is a reasonable amount of ID camps to target? We get a lot of emails asking to come to ID camps so was wondering what the realistic number to attend. Is it 5? 10? Asking for an 08 sophomore.
