So what is the "cost" of being on a "substitute" team?

So I am hearing all of this stuff about certain ECRL (and other league) teams not being able to field a good team for certain age groups and have other teams play under their name (NJ14 playing as SCP/PDA 2011 for example). How do that work on a logistics side? Do the NJ14 girls buy an entire 2nd kit (with warmups and backpack and such)? Do they have to pay a second fee and if so, is it the same that you would pay just to be on that team (guessing if there is one, it has to be less since you do not have 2X as the number of practices)? Do you have to play your games at the "real team's" home field? Do other players play with you when you play as the ECRL team or is it just your regular team?

The club has to offer money to the external team. No way those families are being asked to pay.

I would think they have to pay for the league … other than that I’m sure it’s their usual fees because they are not moving locations or cos CB es. They are just given the opportunity to play in a league

I guess both sides get something out of it. In the SCP/PDA and NJ14 case, NJ14 makes SCP/PDA look better than it is. SCP/PDA could have thrown together a team that was really bad and got killed every game, so no worry about forfeits. The kids get to play more games, but they are travelling up to an hour each way just for "HOME" games. No idea where they practice or if there are extra practices with the "local" players. Looking at NJ14's EDP-2 competition vs their ECRL-2 competition, I would probably say the teams overall were better in EDP-2. But if they are having to let SCP/PDA players also play on their team, it could make them look worse (they almost lost to Copa, cant image that it was all of the best NJ14 players).

I understand it is all about the money, but it doesnt make sense to me

For my daughter's team, we paid no extra money, we had to travel an hour each way for home games, and we wore out team's regular jersey, so it probably confused the opponent

So two hour drive round trip and your kid plays how much makes no sense

My daughter plays 55 of 70 or so minutes for free. No club fees, no ref fees, against some good teams (and some crappy ones). makes sense to us.

Seems like something that is pretty low on the list of things to care about.

do you even know what you are talking about or are you just one of the trainers on the club that can't even field a team. If my kid was offered 18 ERCL level games for free, just requiring a little driving, I would jump on it and laugh at all of the people we are playing that actually had to pay

I think I'm speaking for the vast majority of rational people here that no one cares what other people pay for their kid to play soccer in some specific league.

I think they mean they just don’t pay anything on top of what they normally do.
