I was under the impression that "NJ Surf" that has an association with MFA, does NOT share players with MFA Surf Mercer and "MFA Surf Mercer" is really just the B teams of "MFA Mercer" so they share players for games they want to win

It is a confusing system and differs depending on age and gender. The two clubs have a partnership. Surf is a national brand and fields some amazing teams in specific areas across the country (eg San Diego Surf) There are MFA Mercer teams on the girls side starting as young as U8 I believe. There are no MFA Mercer boys teams until you get to U12. The "A" team prior to U12 is the NJ Surf - Mercer team. The "B" team is West Windsor Plainsboro - Black. On the boys end, typically anywhere from 6-10 of the boys from the U11 NJ Surf-Mercer team has made the Pre-ECNL Match Fit Team. Some may make the Pre-ECRL team, and some will remain with Surf (which then becomes the "C") team. I believe with the 2012 Boys, there were not enough players to field a Pre-ECNL-R team.
MFA - Mercer players have a chance to participate in the Surf Select program as well which is a plus.
