What are the rules for transferring clubs in the winter? Do you need the releasing club's permission or is there a transfer window?

ECNL has to release your pass

USYS/NJYS and US Club have different rules and processes.

This is for USYS. So if existing club doesn't approve (despite being fully paid and remains fully rostered for spring), we have no recourse?

I would be surprised if current club really cared that much

Just curious - what is the reasoning behind your midseason transfer?

If you're moving within a league the club needs to release you. If the club won't you can appeal but need a good reason + have to have met your contractual obligations

If you're moving to a different league under a different umbrellla, (eg ECNL to GA) you don't need to be released

Also each league has its own rules about how late on the season players can be added. Usually April or so

Different poster but you should figure out why they are unhappy. If the coach is just God awful or your player clearly is on the wrong level team that's one thing. If it's a general malaise or whining about playing time they should work to improve their PT and try and stick it out.

I agree. Leave if the coach sucks and go somewhere where the coach is better. . If the player is not at that level, leave for a team more on their level. If you are at the right level but not playing a lot, stick it out the full year.
