EDP Championship Bracket Idea (all age groups)

Should EDP add a bracket where the top 6 or 7 teams in the state of NJ compete against eachother with promotion and relegation. This would be for all age groups and will obviously be higher than Premier I. Here’s an example for 2013 Girls

    EDP U10 Championship:
    Cheshire Soccer Academy 2013G NL
Cedar Stars Academy Lacey 2013G Green
    MatchFit Academy Morris 2013G Pre-ECNL
    PDA 2013G Stars Blue
    SJEB FC 2013G Red
    The Football Academy 2013G Black
    Torpedoes SC 2013G Red

I think this can be a good and bad idea. It can be a good idea because there will be top competition and EDP might have a better chance of keeping their better teams in their league but a bad idea for traveling if you travel from Pitman, NJ all the way to Wyckoff, NJ.
    This is just my idea.

SO, this is basically what the Premier 1 blue is at each age group. Once these teams hit U13, they are gone to their respective next thing (ECNL, GA, USYS, whatever). I think if you add and/or subtract a few other names (WC, Crush, Boca), this is pretty close to what the top flight for 2013G looks like next year.

Yeah but they should make a top flight only for good teams not a mix with good teams and okay teams thats what always happens with Premier I, I think the point of this idea is to just make edp league competitive until U13

That is already what they do.

no your not understanding the point of this. This “EDP Championship” idea would be a bracket with the best teams in the age group this is different from Premier I because Premier I consists of good teams mixed with okay/average teams with top teams from a year below that struggle in Premier I. Basically the point of “EDP Championship” is to provide more competition for teams.

I agree. Promotion works well if the team stays together for the next season. Recent history shows this is not always the case.

It is what they do already. The best teams are in premier 1. They get relegated down to premier 2. Teams from premier 2 get promoted up to premier 1. Some teams play up a year to go to 9v9 early or 11v11 early. But the top teams are in premier 1. You explained what is already happening.

‍♂️ these people don’t understand the point of this… Premier 1 is obviously the top divison in EDP leagues for U11 and U12 teams but there’s always like 10 teams and only 3 or 4 of those teams are good and the rest are just okay teams, newly promoted, or just a year below. The “EDP Championship” Concept would be an “advanced” bracket where only top teams in that age group can play NO okay teams, NO a year below teams, but with promotion from the 1st place team in Premier 2. Also Relegation with last place going to Premier 2.

lol.... I fully understand. in your example, you mentioned quite a few "OK teams" that are either playing in much lower flights in U11 or still in futures, while omitting some pretty good ones. The OK/bad teams get relegated. its exactly how the EDP flighting system works

Cheshire Soccer Academy 2013G NL - Prem 2 red
Cedar Stars Academy Lacey 2013G Green - Prem 2 blue
MatchFit Academy Morris 2013G Pre-ECNL - still playing futures
PDA 2013G Stars Blue - Prem 1 blue
SJEB FC 2013G Red - Prem 2 blue
The Football Academy 2013G Black - still playing futures
Torpedoes SC 2013G Red - prem 4 blue
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------
NJ Crush - Prem 2 red
                  WCFC - prem 3 red
                  Boca - Prem 3 blue
                  Real - Prem 3 blue

Judging from the list, the OP is a 2013 Torpedoes parent that doesn't realize they are going to get worked in Prem 1 next year

I understand how Edp flighting works but there’s always gonna be a coach that thinks their team is Premier 1 or 2 level and requests EDP and majority of the time EDP accepts them and do badly finishing 8-10 in their league. That’s why like I said 5 times the idea of “EDP Championship” is a competitive league that teams are invited by EDP to compete in for that age group and no coaches requesting to join unless their team is “competitive”. You also proved my point NJ Crush 2013G Academy plays Premier 2 but MatchFit Academy Morris 2013G Pre-ECNL who are better than Crush are playing futures and that’s because of the coaches request.

not a torpedoes parent, torpedoes are a good team but they have been playing small tournaments against northern counties teams but won teams like The FA in the past here’s proof
                        https://system.gotsport.com/org_even...es?group=55164

next year you will see that torpedoes will be premier 1 or 2. Also the NJ 2013 Girls age group has 10-12 good teams and EDP does Premier 1 Blue and Red (10 Teams each) this also means EDP are probably going to throw in some 2014 teams and some 2013 okay teams into Premier 1. This is also another point of this concept..

That’s the list. Include both Morris Pre ecnl blue and white teams and those are the best 2013 teams. However, These teams will likely all be in the two premier 1 red/blue anyway, thus expanding to the top 16-20 teams. I agree the two top divisions dilutes a bit.
