Why stay on a 2nd team when you can play on a 1st team, have the chance to be promoted to play vs the best?
Isn't "Northeast RL" the new ECRL 2? Right now ECNL North ATLANTIC teams also have ECRL North ATLANTIC teams, so I do not see any "promotions" there. There is another ECRL Northeast before the new annoucement, but it was the playoffs for other ECRL divisions (New England and North Atlantic). The new thing is also call Northeast. Very confusing

The new RL 2 league doesn't have any teams in ECNL NL or North Atlantic division. The RL 2 teams can be promoted to a ECNL NL level and it look like that is only path to join ECNL currently. This year only one club in the nation got promoted from RL to NL, Chicago Inter.

I just wondering if next year in the regional playoffs are they going to include teams from this new division with teams from New England and North Atlantic. Probably will wait a few years in order not to embarrass these new clubs

Yep, that is the case. The 2 new leagues male up the 17 leagues that RL has. Same access to playoffs as any other team in it. Some people on here are clearly very affected by this new venture for clubs.

I personally think it was a brilliant move by the Ecnl. They created a space that made it impossible for those ,teams not in the GA, to turn down joining the new ecrl 2 league. If they did not join they would be on the outside of both the GA and the ECNL. They are effectively gobbling up market share. As a club you dont want to be left out this without one of these leagues when the music stops. So whats in it for the new clubs? Simple, money! They get to charge anywhere from 3500 to 3900 per player for dues. They get the stability and the branding of the league and yes, some will move into the ECNL national model. There are no guarantees and clubs will be cut throat in competing for players, including ecrl players that play for a national ecrl platform. The advantages of playing for a ecrl 2 team over ecrl 1 is that you get the clubs top coaches and you are treated like the the top team in the club instead of team 3, 4 or 5. The new ecrl2 league will be able to sell the platform to older players based on lower level college recruitment as well, although, I think it will be hard sell. Think about it-if a club is offered ECRL 2 and they dont accept, where would that leave them. No way they would be able to compete with the club close by for players who is offering ECRL2. Its about money and the survival of clubs like copa and NJ crush. Some of these clubs know that they will never get into the ECNL national league but in the meantime, they can make a lot of money. Better to be in it then to have to fend for yourself without the branding.

Struggling to understand why people think this is below the current ECRL. 'The 2023-2024 season will feature 17 different ECNL Girls Regional Leagues nation-wide'. The 2 new leagues are part of the already structured ECRL, not below it as some are trying to suggest.

Where does it say anywhere that the NE league is “ECRL2”? This is an expansion of the current ECRL platform.
