Is it really fair to have semi and final state games on teams home field?

It is if you are the home team....having watched a few games maybe tell the officials that they are allowed to blow the whistle in the 2nd half!
Watched a game that turned 180 in 2nd half when ref vanished

The State semi finals and actual State finals are on neutral sites. The Sectional championships are essentially a quarterfinal with a trophy.

Which one of the twenty NJ state championship games are you referring to?

Lol. Everyone is a State Champion in NJ. We won! We won also! So did we! Us too! This isn’t even worthy of conversation.

Lol so right. So many different groups that everyone is the State champ this weekend. I really wish we actually got to see some top teams actually play eachother all throughout the state from North to South and include the Private schools in that mix. It would be great soccer to watch.

I believe you finish with 6. Groups 1-4 and Non Public A and B. Of course there’s Pennington who won the Prep A tourney and self titles “Prep A State Champions”. Guess that makes RU Prep state champions as well even though they are still playing in the sectionals.

It’s the equivalent of calling everyone who qualifies for the World Cup, World Cup Champions

It’s like saying Thailand who lost to USA 13-0 in World Cup is one of the best teams in the World. Only a handful of really good teams the rest are pretty similar in HS soccer.

funny how the seeds work sometimes, but the way I look at it is that these teams earned home field games. The power points are a lot fairer than things from the past, but when the state's #1 girls team is a #3 seed in their sectional tournament, people start to complain

How many do you think there are? TOC would add a few more quality games and result in a true State Champion but 6 State Champions out of all the HS teams in NJ isn't out of line.

They should make winners of Prep A and B play eachother to see who the best is. Narrow down the final 6 (someone previously said it comes down to 6 in the state) and let them square off. Have one final actual state champ.

This is not true. The Central Group 4 sectional championship is at howell high school which is a neutral location for manalapan and freehold.

They did for years it was called Tournament of Champions or TOC. NJSIAA voted last year to end the TOC, this is the first soccer season without it.
