Can you blame them? Look at this site, and if it's indicative of the soccer culture in this country, then no way a coach should spend any time trying to teach the game to anyone. All people care about is how good their club is, how good their team is, and which league is best. Parents don't want to see their kids getting better, they want wins. Why would they suffer the embarrassment of having a 10-year old kid on a losing team when they can move them to a team that wins?

Can't blame the coaches for delivering what parents want - FB likes and tiny plastic trophies.

Absolutely. Club soccer exists to make money. Whatever way they feel is best to maximize their profits is the right way.

^^^^^This may times over. The game is played on paper here. Rankings, wins, All HS,Club, College teams. Its a fake environment based on trying to make as many people happy as possible. Coaches with influence deciding who is perceived how. The audience is people who dont actually watch. If you watched games at all levels, the standard of play is pretty bad but someone has to win, someone will score, someone on a relative basis will be the best of the bunch. the bunch itself is not getting better though. While the WNT was dominating, the narrative seems to fit, but as a few countries are reaching critical mass in league and International play, the belief that a College system could develop difference making players more consistently than a more focused professional environment within established soccer cultures looks more and more stupid.

the USA got battered in the U20 WC with at least 2 young professional players on the roster and 1 17 yr old who is in the full NT at this time. The system does exactly what it is designed to do and that is NOT to focus on developing talent that has the potential to be difference making at the pro level. the USSF are trying to stream hand picked kids to the pros early but that wont work as its not broad enough.

I watched part of the same game and I thought the quality was pretty good.

It's in the eye of the beholder. If you are a fan of La Liga you will turn on a US Women's college game and be unimpressed. No kidding. It's totally different.

It's like Einstein walking into a college math class and think "these kids are idiots".

Other than a few truly elite teams that play possession it’s very reminiscent of HS soccer. Surprised ND is not one of those given they are #4 in the country.

Funny when you watch the women's college game and the announcers start talking about which team is doing better at winning the "second ball" and the "third ball", and so on. Like it's a game of pinball.

They are all a lot better than your daughter will ever be...sorry, but if you don't enjoy it, then don't watch it.

Saw that in the MLS game over weekend. Headers are contagious. Put it on the ground. Just saying...

yep. the woso mentality. at least we are better than you as opposed to why, after all the money spent, is the standard what it is at this level? Why is the quickest way to improve a program to recruit abroad? College soccer is a game for players, friends, family and alumni. The quality is not relevant, but winning is.
