I think PDA shouldn't be allowed to take credit for any player developed by another coach/trainer but they seem to get away with it year after year. How many of their top players only wore the powder blue for 3 years or less?

Different club/state, but I've had this thought regarding my own daughter. Developed by one club, got found by another. Who gets the credit? Reality is she never would've committed without the second club, but the first developed her to give her the ability to do so.

Who gets the credit? SHE does.

It's just how it works. Wherever they played last is who gets the credit for recruiting. Is it supposed to go all the way back to ulittle for "credit"? When college programs list a player's club it's also usually just the last club, not the last three

As I posted above this is how it works. EVERY club operates this way. You're just upset that it's PDA.

That is simply not true. EVERY club does not operate this way and list other clubs developed players.

Why are you so fixated on PDA?

Oh I get it, I just don't feel entirely comfortable about it. It minimizes the impact that other club had on her. But, again, if a player is developed and nobody is there to see it, it's not really anything to brag about.

That’s the crappy part of youth soccer. Clubs like CSA, STA etc do all the hard work developing top talent from U8 on up and along comes PDA to scoop up the players and claim the credit. Should not be allowed.

Clubs don't develop players, Coaches can help guide players - but the truth is that development is inherent desire, work and effort, coupled with inherent athleticism (mostly genetics) and speed of decision making (a mix of inherent ability and experience). People put too much on the club/coach - although a bad environment can kill the love of the game needed to excel at the highest level.

So the guy that said his daughter gets the credit is the "most" correct (although he and mom can take some credit).

If you take classes at a Community College than transfer to a University, where do you say you went to school? What does is say on your diploma?

Doesn't every thread lead to PDA? Plus the poster was responding to a post that mentions PDA!

                        1) There are many influences on a players pathway. It's impossible to recognize even just a few let alone all. Top players do a lot of work on their own and they often have outside trainers. The impact a club has on their development is only one piece

                        2) The system is a funnel where better players move up to the better teams and leagues. Some will have played at outside clubs, some will have played at the clubs with the desired patches. Call it aggregation if you want but thats what cubs and teams do - they will always be looking to improve their rosters.

                        3) The college analogy is a good one. That final piece of paper matters, not how you got there.
