Lower teams face other lower teams and they face much less skilled scorers.
I agree here, saying a goalie should play a lower level to mature is idiotic. I assume this is a parent who thinks his/her daughter should be a top team goalie and didn’t make it. Playing against lesser players hinders a keepers development. As far as shooting on a kickoff, I don’t think I’ve ever had a player that could hit that shot but if I did, I would certainly give them that opportunity.

Goalies can't get better on teams with solid defenses. Touches matter and if they are getting 1 or 2 shots a game or worse, splitting time for those few shots they cannot and will not get better. You want the reps, you play on a lower team until recruiting age. I've seen far to many once great youth goalies turn into swiss cheese at the older ages because they can't defend the bigger net and aren't used to having to react as fast since they don't have a def that can bail them out.

        Untrue
It is dumb to say goalies can't get better with solid defenses, that shows a pure lack of soccer knowledge. Also, playing on a lower team doesn't mean you face more shots. Maybe you mean to say finding a bad team in a high division makes sense (such as South and White ECNL teams) to see more shots, but not dropping from ECNL to ECRL of a club who plays other ECRL teams.

When you are younger than recruiting age, you are always seeing shots no matter what level you play at. The key is to face the best competition possible so you see harder and more well placed shots. If anything you want to paly up an age or level, not down. I train goalies and always have older players shoot on my goalies (just a year or two as you don't want young keepers getting hurt mentally or physically), but I encourage the better ones to play up if their club allows and has a spot.

How has South and White been doing? Unfortunately we have to wait until 12/10 for the older players to see what the rest of the clubs can do but so far it isn't looking to hot for either.

I think South may have won a single game and White still on the schneid in the 09 and 10 age groups. Not pretty.

2011 South and White haven't won any games either-Oooofah.

So 2010 South has the only win for the 2009-2011 age groups South and White-

1 win total for 6 PDA "ECNL" teams. That is just horrible.

ECNL teams lose to non-ECNL teams all the time. Strange these PDA ECNL teams appear to be broken to the point they can't even win a league game even by accident.
