Not a huge benefit. That said if you are looking for additional field time and mixing it up with kids you don’t normally see it serves a purpose.

2. Play and train under a different coach
3. Play along side different players from different systems
4. Playing other teams rather than the same league teams
5. A small amount of more exposure at the older ages
6. More for the parents, get to talk to people from other clubs and find out that the world doesn't revolve around your club/team. Some parents are actually helpful in sharing college ID clinic information and training opportunities
7. Small feather in the cap or blurb on the college check list. May not be the main reason why a coach chose your kid but if it came down to 2 players that were equal but one with and one without they may lean toward the one with
Down sides are cost, travel and conflictions. Check the ODP schedule for the year and make sure you can get to most of it. At the HS ages, NJ GA and ECNL teams back load the schedule which may cause issues with ODP schedule.
For GA and ECNL, the leagues are great but not all teams are created equal. If you find yourself on a team that is the joke of the division then you may want to check out ODP.

it was a nice confidence booster for my D. girls on her team she didnt know so she couldnt rely on them like she would with girls she played with for years. taught her more independence how to be vocal and coaches seen her in a different light and position than she normally played which help broaden her field play. she got choose for the regional id which only boosted her confidence more.
