    ODP - Girls U13-U15

Does it make sense to have U13 to U15 players play in ODP if already playing in GA or ECNL? What would benefits be..if any?

Not a huge benefit. That said if you are looking for additional field time and mixing it up with kids you don’t normally see it serves a purpose.

      1. More field time
      2. Play and train under a different coach
      3. Play along side different players from different systems
      4. Playing other teams rather than the same league teams
      5. A small amount of more exposure at the older ages
      6. More for the parents, get to talk to people from other clubs and find out that the world doesn't revolve around your club/team. Some parents are actually helpful in sharing college ID clinic information and training opportunities
      7. Small feather in the cap or blurb on the college check list. May not be the main reason why a coach chose your kid but if it came down to 2 players that were equal but one with and one without they may lean toward the one with

Down sides are cost, travel and conflictions. Check the ODP schedule for the year and make sure you can get to most of it. At the HS ages, NJ GA and ECNL teams back load the schedule which may cause issues with ODP schedule.

For GA and ECNL, the leagues are great but not all teams are created equal. If you find yourself on a team that is the joke of the division then you may want to check out ODP.

Gives you a head start if you aim to play in the Olympics some day. Good to dream

Someone is just bitter because their kid couldn't hack it.

it was a nice confidence booster for my D. girls on her team she didnt know so she couldnt rely on them like she would with girls she played with for years. taught her more independence how to be vocal and coaches seen her in a different light and position than she normally played which help broaden her field play. she got choose for the regional id which only boosted her confidence more.

Biggest benefit, besides playing with friends that have moved to various clubs, is the ability to play against players from other leagues from other states. VA, MD, and PA usually have a good mix of ECNL and GA players which allows NJ players to test their skills against different leagues players. With that though ODP, just like playing ECNL or GA, isn't going to be the deciding factor for a school for most players but no school is going to say that since you did ODP they don't want you.
