Thank you for the good advice and I am embarrassed at my mistake. At the next showcase I will be first in line at 5:30am on Day 1 at the shoebox. This way I can establish sideline dominance before the first game starts.

SSP’s, it’s a cold one out there today. Pls make sure you wear your 3/4 length puffer jacket with club letters and your initials. This way colleges will know what club you represent and the first letters of your name. They may even mistake you for a coach! Matching bottoms recommended.

Thank you parents for your compliance with the sideline behavior and wardrobe. Please remind your future D1 super stars that even off the field they can flex. Airpods or headphones should be worn as you approach the "pitch" so that people know you are in the zone. Now, Go have a shot and put it on frame.

Kids should learn at an early age to complain, with big hand gestures, at every possible opportunity on the pitch. They typically won't get the call, as there most likely wasn't a penalty, but it will make them look like pros. Club soccer does a great job of training this.

this winter, turn your garage or basement into an indoor training facility. Weights, foot skills, etc. they should have no excuse not to continue to train. It is a great way to let your kids know how much importance you place on soccer. Have them post their workouts on social media so the world know that they mean business.

It’s funny that parents still don’t understand that the investment into club soccer including private training and travel to tournaments does not yield even a slight return in college scholarships for 90% of kids…. Yet they keep doing it. I guess it makes them feel important.

Should the kid not play at all then? It’s the landscape. Doubt that the only reason kids are playing is to get into college.

It’s fun. Keeps the kids engaged. 70-80% of them will quit organized sports altogether by 14 but better to be playing than not. Teams that approach it like rec after 14 fall apart so why not have still an environment that mirrors structure and competition. What is wrong with that?

My kid plays. It’s the lady year of organized youth soccer. The ride has been fun. She made a ton of friends. We traveled as a family. She put in the extra work and feels good about her skill sets. She would like to play in college but realizes it’s super competitive and there is always club and intramural as an option. Has a good sense of the importance of exercise and being accountable to her team and coaches. She will get into college because of her brains and is a fan of the game for life.

The ride was well worth the costs that came with it and we will miss the time together.

Don’t worry about how people decide to pursue their goals. Everyone’s path is different.

SSP community, it’s important we keep this thread on the right track and ensure it serves its purpose. No negative comments, just insightful comments on our knowledge of the game from a sideline perspective and what we know is necessary to keep our kids competitive within the clubs landscape. Remember…it’s all about the “yeah, yeah”.

This post is so wrong if your a parent. A player that has to be motivated to train by their parents is an important indication that your child has little interest to play in college and not into soccer as much as you would like as a parent. In addition, you want them to post there own workout results so the whole world knows. That’s absolute shear madness. This is a parent down the rabbit hole head first.

As an experienced SSP, I have decided to start wearing my clubs dry fit gear to my local gym. This way when the other members match my car magnet with my gear, they know I am all bout that soccer life #nodaysoff #soccerislife

This is what I am talking about. Going above and beyond in the name of club soccer. On the heels of the world cup many phonies will hop on the bandwagon. Flashing your club gear will give much cred. Try to work a cross country tournament into a conversation.

As a lifelong supporter of Argentina since November 2022, its hard for me to describe what this World Cup means to me and my IG…

Keep up for NCSA profile!!! So important to rep your club on that site. The >1k price tag will enhance your kid’s image and get you so many important contacts. It is almost as valuable as attending those cross country tournaments. Hint… if your kid is god enough, you don’t need any of this crap.

When people (friends, co workers, etc.) ask me if I have vacation plans for the holidays or the winter I like to list the travel tournaments that we will attend and then gripe about how there might not be time for vacation. It establishes an air of importance regarding the superiority of club soccer and also a makes it seem like my kid has major commitments (like pretending that its already college). No one has to know the truth about pay to play soccer.
