Most telling post by a MFS parent yet. If you think soccer is about hitting someone hard and fouling, please put your DD in American Football instead. You want your kid to hurt people? Wow, you are a real piece of work. Are you really a MFS parent? Are you trying to defend a coach that verbally told his player to go after others? You are completely missing the point and are denying what your coach said. I don't care if you tell your DD to play hard if it means give a 100%. That is what I tell my daughter, "play hard and give 100%. Don't play scared." None of that translates into go out and knock people down and be so physical that you hurt others. If you are telling your daughter to go out and hit hard, yeah, I have a huge problem with that. That is extremely ignorant, obnoxious, and your kid should be kept off the field.

There is a big difference between playing hard and physical versus "hit her harder" and perhaps the more telling thing is "that is what you like to do". I have personally witnessed what MFS players do on the field, including a player spearing the opposing teams goalie.

Just about any other club would have let this coach go. We have an extremely verbal coach who sometimes goes too far but has never said what the MFS coach said. Even so, our coach was told he would be let go if it continued. I can tell you for absolute fact, if he had done what RT did, he would have been fired the next day. Fact.

"PHILADELPHIA -- John Chaney was suspended for the rest of the regular season by Temple on Friday for ordering rough play by one of his players, who proceeded to foul out in 4 minutes against Saint Joseph's and broke an opponent's arm."

"A newly released recording purports to capture former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams telling players to "put a lick" on San Francisco's Kyle Williams to see if the receiver still had lingering effects from an earlier concussion."

I am dumbfounded by the lack of accountability at MatchFit. I am not out to get the club or the coach, but if this goes unchecked and no reprimand is given I will lose a lot of respect for what the ECNL stands for. This is not elevating the game or players. Parents that support this type of coaching should be ashamed. You can try to split hairs on the exact words this coach used but you know exactly what his intent was in saying it.
He should be fired. If he is being protected, that person should also be fired. It’s really that simple.

It’s worth repeating what I have said in response to posts by TS anonymous parents. 99.9% of the parents have never played soccer, never watched soccer nor understand the sport. They all got involved once their daughters started playing and now think they are experts. These are the same parents who laughed and made fun of me when I played in high school while they played football. These parents have n idea the difference between a “good” foul vs. a “bad” foul. I have seen parents on the sidelines screaming at their kids to stop a player or worse if a player goes “shoulder to shoulder” or some other “good” foul then yells at their daughter “go after them, are y going to take that”! My lint is parents are just as bad in encouraging physical harm as this coach did at the game. We all have seen parents lose control when they see there daughter get fouled fairly. I have heard parents proudly talk abut players who are the “enforcers” on the team and encourage aggressive behavior. THIS BAD BEHAVIOR IS NOT JUST WITH COACHES.

I have played soccer and played it with skill- I have gone in cleats up numerous times and I have been in many altercations. I know the difference between clean hard play and when things get a bit out of control. I am no wallflower. However never ever An excuse for a coach to encourage these girls to try go in harder to hurt another player. These are 13 year olds. Shoulder to shoulder fine Shove in the back on a defenseless player, I’m going in cleats up. Guarantee it won’t happen again. And if I’m the father on the side lines that witnesses a coach telling his player to take out my daughter, we are gonna brawl. We put our trust in these coaches to teach the game the right way not play revenge soccer because their team is losing a u13 game.

I have no problem what your saying but your ignoring my parents comment. I have witnessed parents on the sidelines to play tough and intimidate other players. I have seen parents say to their kids while playing not to take it from another player and get physical back at them even harder. That’s right, basically the same words as this coach and yet there is a big uproar about the coach. Parents have been just as bad. Parents should be held just as accountable as a coach but we know that doesn’t happen. Parents should be held accountable when they scream at linesman and refs. We know that happens a lot but yet parents come on her outraged at a coach.

Parents act like fans, if a parent tells his kid to go after my kid and my kid gets hurt, you better believe the parents on the sidelines are gonna go after them. I have never see father sit back and let that happen to their daughter. Coaches are fiduciaries, that a whole different ball of wax, they have a higher responsibility to not only take cats of their kids but to see to it that their players donot do something reckless to hurt another child. What he said was reckless and he breached his fiduciary responsibility.

If what he said was so crystal clear and obvious and over-the-top, why didn't any PDA parents explode, raise a stink, storm the field? Why didn't the referees kick him out of the game? Why didn't the tourney folks who were there do something?

If a parent from my kid’s ECNL team (not PDA or MF) yelled any type of instruction (whether it’s to play physical or shoot or pass, etc), the coach would tell them not to come to another game.

Maybe it’s because these are 2009s, but as the kids reach HS age, the sidelines are pretty quiet. As they should be.

You forgot why did this come out in a video from someone who wasn't even there and fired from the club.

It seems that the one closes to him did hear and react.( NH) You suggest that “if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it then the tree must not have fallen.”Your logic is flawed. It’s on the tape -other parents reaction to an authority figure has no bearing on what he said.

Your answer proves my point about the “double standard” of parents like yourself. Parents are not fans, they are supposed to be adults and act like adults. You statement that as a an it’s okay for a parent to go after another parent or anyone else should ban them from ever attending another club match. That is the lowest denominator of a parent and is the same as a coach instructing a player to intentionally be physical.

Tetro should be held accountable for his words. The ECNL should step in and do something about him since DB is to much a pussy to handle it.

Who said anything about it being ok. I said other parents would have something to say if a parent told their daughter to go after another kid. That’s it. They are fans on the side line watching the game They are not fiduciaries. Your argument seems pointless as this thread is about what was said by a coach. Why the deflection?

His words were to hit it harder, Not hit her harder! He never instructed his player to hurt anyone. People should actually listen to the audio instead of reading what someone thinks he said

What is “it” What is the” it “ that he wants to hit harder. Perhaps you can clear that up for us.

sounds a bit like the Bill Clinton defense.
