Pom Pom waving about all the ills of SUSC and kids who wanted to try to get to a higher level shows jealousy. I, personally, would've been fine without it. NPL wasn't working, ECNL wasn't an option, and am not thrilled with some aspects of DA. But, she loves it.

Looking over the training regimen that's come out is really interesting. Already seeing pluses.

Again, good luck to every team this season and wish anyone who plays nothing but success.
Curious what you mean by NPL wasn't working. The competition was too weak? Your D was too strong? The coaching? The girls? What?

Half the teams were good/excellent. Seacoast would hold their own against them, mostly.
Half were terrible. Beyond terrible....like putting up a touchdown terrible. So, you are in a league that is predicated on results, but game results shouldn't be a consideration.

But, it was also the team-makeup. Too many distractions/other interests affect the play on the field. The goal, the hope, is to get a group of kids together who live to play soccer on the team. Not middle school, not high school, not skiing, not vacations, basketball, softball, lacrosse, parties. Just want to play and learn from players who are better.

Let me be clear, though...we will run into the same problem with the DA, and there's the same problem in any NPL and ECNL league with the disparate level of play.

For me, the bigger driver is the training (much better), the oversight, and visibility.

Sorry, replying to my own post again. Before it comes this way, most of the opinions are from my daughter. I didn't want to do it. I've seen the benefits now, but was not embracing it initially.

She gets tired of being dedicated, and having 3/4 of the team feel that way. For it to not be returned by all (and those are the ones who complain the most) gets frustrating.

She has dreams, which are not reality. I'm OK with letting her pursue them for now, and every year we'll collectively evaluate what's working and what's not and decide. Who knows, maybe we'll be back, maybe we'll switch, maybe she'll give it all up. Kids change. For now, she's beyond happy with it.

Thanks for the honest answer! I can relate. I have a very driven D who wants to be among others with a similar mindset. GDA just isn't in our budget so we will do the best we can with what we can afford, but was curious what you experienced.

I get the budget thing. We are evaluating it and so far, it's reasonable based on other years. It's early but I've done enough research that I can look through next June and have some vision and planned accordingly. Trying to compare some of the travel we've already experienced and how it will compare going forward. We've already flown to 7-8 other states with overnight stays over the past 3 years. This may just slot in.

We've taken the position that, for now, family vacations will be in soccer locations. Take an extra day or two or three and see the sites in the area.

Everyone I've spoken to is taking a hard look this year and will look it over again next year. Some may drop, some may not.

Dumb question- I am a new parent to the club soccer scene. Why doesn’t Seacoast post their rosters for NPL and their Academy teams? My daughter loves soccer and is a fan as well and wants to follow the players in the academy program but does not know who they are. She’s in the U12 program and we know the players we see but don’t know the other gurls if we go watch.

Academy is posted on the Academy page. NPL, honestly I've rarely seen them posted by many clubs and when they are, they are usually outdated.

Here is a link to the Academy page for the club. Click on each gender/age and you can see the rosters.

DA games start tomorrow. Any thoughts on how well the boys will do? Hear a lot of talk about GDA but not much about the boys.

A girl listed on one of the Seacoast DA rosters was mentioned in the newspaper as scoring a goal for her high school team. I thought that wasn’t allowed?

                            14s lost 5-0
                            15s won 1-0
                            17s lost 4-0

NEFC 14s better team over all on second half. First half was a close game, second half all NEFC.

15s game was a good competitive game which could have went either way.

NEFC 17s are a good team and were better.

Good start and good result for 15s. Well done to them.

Did she play in the DA game? Probably will be added after HS season...
