BOYS: Santiago Somorrostro of Nashua South High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade New Hampshire Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Somorrostro is the first Gatorade New Hampshire Boys Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Nashua South High School. The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound senior midfielder scored 25 goals and passed for 16 assists this past season, leading the Panthers (15-3) to the Division I state quarterfinals. Somorrostro is a two-time First Team AllState selection and a two-time United Soccer Coaches High School All-American honoree. He concluded his prep soccer career with 48 goals and 43 assists.
GIRLS: Leah Morrier of Timberlane Regional High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade New Hampshire Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Morrier is the first Gatorade New Hampshire Girls Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Timberlane Regional High School. The 5-foot-7 senior forward and midfielder led the Owls to an 18-1 record and the Division I state championship this past season. Morrier scored 28 goals and passed for 14 assists, setting up Timberlane’s lone goal in a 1-0 win over Portsmouth High in the state final. A United Soccer Coaches All-American selection, she is a three-time First Team All-State honoree and the 2023 Lawrence (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune Player of the Year. She concluded her prep soccer career with 51 goals and 42 assists.
Interestingly, both have committed to UMass-Lowell for next year.
