A high school soccer players gets into college, perhaps with the help of the soccer coach. For some, it is a school that they might not have otherwise been able to attend, while for others it means some financial assistance. Some percentage of these benefit in both ways. A very small percentage have a shot at playing professional ball with a starting salary of 70K-125K.
The great majority are not going pro. They attend a school, hopefully have a worthwhile experience and look for a job. The latter is facilitated by the fact that they were athletes perhaps even a captain. You might be surprised how many businesses see student athletes as successful, hard-working, multi-tasking assets with great potential.
In these two paragraphs I haven't mentioned D1,2, or 3 because, four years later it really doesn't matter much unless your child wasted his/her time during school. Then it really does matter what school you attended. At that moment, the parent will realize that attending a division 1 school like High Point, which gets an average grade as a school (nice dorms though) is not as beneficial as attending Babson a decent D3 soccer program.

Level of intelligence

Mobility for jobs from Babson is better than High Point. When you send your kid to school what is your/his/her ultimate goal??

I appreciate your post, but that link seems to have an idiosyncratic way of analyzing the schools. Some of the placements made sense to me, but many did not. Still, I agree with your overall point, schools like Babson are probably a better choice for most than schools like High Point.

You definitely opted for a weaker D1 school over a stronger academic D3 school. I bet you didn’t come across high point either. Since those were the two examples I used, I might have thought you would have done a thorough search. If you had noticed the ‘search’ space you could have shown some level of ability. Babson got an A grade and High Point got a B grade.

The other part that varies from player to player is the playtime in college. While it is an individual decision, I think most kids want to be on the field playing more than 10-30 minutes per game.
But....since you were so gifted, it is possible that you might not be able to grasp these concepts....
