From what I've read the Revs aren't the only one that skimp on practices, but the vast majority do comply. Then toss the frequent cancellations for this or that and they're down substantially vs other clubs in total practice hours over the course of the year.

Bolts almost never cancel anything and encourage players to attend extra.

True, but they only schedule 3/ week also. You have to go to one of the NPL or NEP practices to get the extra practice. Which is typically very poor.

I wasn't limiting to just MA. Oakwood also only does 3x and I've read complaints elsewhere about othe DA clubs; not alot but it's there

Ok but glad to see technical director decoupled from first team coach...

So it's really not about MLS Academies abiding to the mandated frequency of training, it's really about the fact that you think the Revs youth players suck right? Let me see, your NPL boy is going places?

If USSDA keeps expanding the number of club, Academy is going to have to start categorizing teams in a National/Regional type play because watering down is going to happen across the country. (And doesn't this model look familiar...think USYS National/Regional team...everything just reverts back to the mean!!!) But it is the MLS teams that will likely continue to lure in the talent relatively speaking. And more and more college coaches are heading to Academy director jobs, with MLS clubs.

The same place as your DA boy.

The point is that they won't keep up.

You people can't have it both ways. Complain when travels are an issue. Complain when it is too local. The goal is to get players to play at DA designated clubs so USSF can monitor at a manageable level. No model can make everyone happy.

Half the teams in DA are already very weak. The soccer talent is just not there and now will never be.

I don't know...I get your perspective but my other kids played Reg/Natl league, and they and many played high level D1 and enjoyed life a little more. Could play in some tournaments that mix it up a little. I'm not from NE, so will tell you that often teams in our Reg in south have to travel ten hours on a bus to get to games. And some on the DP roster, get on the field for ten minutes. Rostered players get on for a 1/2 some times. Give up a whole weekend with the two games being played, and not always strongest competition. At least NE Rev keeps their roster managed. Just hope that US Soccer isn't trying to spread too wide a net, so ECNL doesn't grab more clubs. And the holy grail of scholarship money in boys soccer doesn't exist very often. You can kindof see this from signing day photos...one sheet of paper with school logo is a "letter of commitment" not a NLI with a scholarship.

Teams and players. I know part of the reason for DA's large size is geography. But part of it is to saturate markets to kill 2nd place contenders. There's not enough player and coaching talent to claim the league is consistently top notch, because it definitely is not. Something much smaller would be better to train the talent that should be trained, not just the ones willing to write a check and give up HS.

You all are assuming DA is "training" the talent sufficiently. It just isn't so. US players are at a huge disadvantage when compared to the rest of the world, and limiting play, while training 6-8 hours a week is just not gonna improve soccer in this country. Calling it "development" or an "academy" doesn't make either true. But it sounds good.
